Look for books by nnedi okarafor and nk jemison. Octavia butler is a classic though a lot of her books might hit way too close to home right now. Also the gilded ones by namina forna and Jordan ifueko's raybearer duologue (tho it's ya it's still amazing)

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.
