Wage war on nature to build new homes: that’s Labour’s offer, but it’s a con trick | George Monbiot The government’s new planning bill is tearing down environmental protections to benefit developers. This nation of nature lovers won’t stand for it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

This is worse than I thought. While this is about England, you can be sure if it suceeds there, the pressure will be on the Scottish Government to do the same.

Shame on our UK Government for selling our nature and destroying OUR countryside 😡😡😡

"The push to farm all available land to produce as much food as possible during WW2 continues into the current subsidy system. Even when farmers want to leave marginal and hard-to-manage areas alone, the subsidy system drives them to keep fighting nature."

Who would have thought wildfires could come to Scotland? 🔥

Yet this year drought and fire have been very real issues.

Could beavers be used alongside agriculture in Scotland to help water retention and protect crops or livestock from wildfires? 👀💭

Babies on board! See the twin bumps in this roundleaf bat's tummy. Although her babies will be almost 1/3 of her body weight at birth, she is increadibly agile and only slows her flight a little. (Photo captured in Kasanka National Park, Zambia last week). 📷🌍🦇😍 #nature #bats #wildlife #photography

Last nights bat survey which was a lovely peaceful evening surveying a very old house and steading built in the 1660s.

Two common pipistrelles were foraging round this building, occasionally meeting in the middle and chasing each other furiously 😀

Worried about picking up extra germs at the ER? 🦠That’s exactly what infection control helps avoid.

In yet another reckless move, the Trump Administration just eliminated the CDC committee that sets hospital safety standards.
