N Hemisphere MSLP anomaly map via wxcharts.com from the 18Z 28 Jan run of the GFS, valid 7 Feb. Deep low over Greenland and strong anticyclone over Scandinavia, plus a deep low west of the Aleutian Islands and downstream ridge.

Recent GFS runs strongly amplify tropospheric stationary waves by first week of Feb – including a Scandi–Greenland dipole pattern. That could weaken the currently very strong polar vortex, but the 101-member subseasonal IFS ensemble mean is above avg into March. As always, something to watch 👀

With deep #snow, calm winds and starry skies, some impressively low night-time temperatures are likely later this week. As dense, cold air collects in the valleys - easily down to -10c or below. Upper #Wensleydale

Looks like it from the pic but ascents would suggest just plain old Ac to be honest. That’s how I observed it through the day. One or two examples of fallstreaks too
