"The Islamists oppose women getting an education," I mutter, as I aim my missile at the girls school

Black and white photo of Marjane Satrapi with the quote:

"The world is not divided between East and West. You are American. I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same."

Once again.

Apparently we end wars the same way we end COVID.

By making it worse.

Stop calling everything a distraction.

It's not funny or clever.
It's insulting to people's intelligence.
It minimizes what is actually going on.
It also discounts that some politicians are just evil and stupid.

Sometimes I wish I could slap people through the internet.

I keep thinking about how the propaganda leading to this war was all about how you needed to rescue women and the first thing they did was kill dozens of little girls.

The next time they tell you there’s no money for healthcare, remember there was money to start a war with Iran.

The next time they tell you there’s no money for housing or social supports, remember there was money to bomb a girls elementary school.

There’s always money for war.

I'm going to need everyone saying "put the data centers in the ocean" to see this.

NO data centers anywhere.

ICE was very active in Minneapolis today, they kidnapped multiple people. ICE didn't leave, the media has moved on but we are still under federal occupation.

Bc of the war in the Middle East, people are now desperately scrambling for goods in Gaza. The specter of famine haunts us, and we fear it, and we fear anything that could cause a crisis. I hope this planet can live in peace. Everyone loses in war. I wish peace for all.

When there are no consequences for the last bad thing, you'll get a next worse thing.

I find it incredibly odd that so many people want the leaders of Ukraine and Russia to be equally bad, but Iran is supposed to be some magically innocent little angel baby.

The leader of a country can be objectively bad. And it's still wrong to bomb them. Shocking, I know.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

The US Immigration Industrial Complex is a Threat to Everyone If President Dwight D. Eisenhower were alive today, he very well may warn of the ever-growing immigration industrial complex.

"US immigration enforcement has evolved into a rapidly growing multi-billion-dollar industry in which profitability increasingly dictates policy and enforcement priorities."

So many parents abuse their children because that's the only relationship or system in their lives where they have power. If you put those people in charge of anything from a country to a book group, they'll abuse that power.

Believe and support victims. Consequences for abusers.

I try to give people space for their religious trauma, but "no religion" isn't the answer to anything. There are certain people who will corrupt any kind of system with a power imbalance. We need to change laws and societal norms so that those people face consequences. That's the only solution.

Question I will ask again, has ANYONE even announced they are running in the Democratic primaries for president?

We don’t owe anyone undying support before we even know who all the options are. Grow the fuck up, people.

You can become disabled or chronically ill at any time.

You can become homeless at any time.

They aren’t moral failings. They are minority groups that anyone can join.

When you lose your health, your finances often follow.

Very few people are the β€œexception”

I am never going to get over the fact thar so many Americans died that corpses stacked up in nursing homes and hospital morgues, that refrigerator trucks had to be brought in for the overflow, and that the big takeaway from Important Pundits is there should have been *less* mitigation.

COVID messaging has faded but the virus hasn’t.
The data keeps warning us, yet without clear guidance on ventilation, vaccination, and indoor risk, people navigate blind.
Treating the pandemic as over weakens readiness for the next one.
Honest communication and resilient data systems are needed now.

The chart reveals recurring waves of hospitalizations and other metrics. Despite a decline in messaging and public attention, the data illustrates that COVID-19 continues to cause significant health impacts. The chart supports a call for clearer guidance on ventilation, vaccination, and indoor risk, emphasizing the need for resilient data systems and honest communication.

Every single year, regardless of use, my healthcare costs have incrementally increased, but you know what has NOT increased... my access to, or quality of, HEALTH CARE.

I want the health care deal that my senator has. Full stop.

β€˜No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico A Beaverton family is grieving after the father, who was detained and deported by ICE, has now died.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

I am so angry.

I’m very sure that Renee Good did not want to become world famous in the way that she did.

She would have been happier raising her kids with her wife and just being a good neighbor.

Like the rest of us.

We should not have to struggle so hard for decency and kindness.

I'm gonna need news outlets to stop reporting that people are "fleeing from age verification" on platforms like Discord.

That's not what is happening. "Age verification" isn't the problem. The demand for surveillance is. The data scraping is.

Kindly stop spreading their false narrative.

Just to note, we live in a putative democracy where it's become unremarkable to see people taken out of public meetings in handcuffs after they've spoken up. This too has to change.

Prince Andrew's Arrest Across the pond in Britain, justice and accountability is a serious matter

Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.
