It’s wild to me how closely this language tracks with the “strict father” model of morality that Lakoff suggests in Don’t think of an elephant

I read Lakoff’s Don’t Think of an Elephant in the early 2000’s while trying to make sense of Bush 2. Go out and buy it from Powell’s or your local indie bookstore.

Have you read "Don't think of an Elephant". I find George Lakoff very interesting on the subject of political communication.

Decades ago, I read George Lakoff's book "Don't Think of an Elephant" about how the R's are more successful at "framing" political debate.

Still relevant today.

Dems urgently need to start framing the debate, instead of talking the usual laundry list of facts & policies.

Read George Lakoff’s “Don’t Think of an Elephant” and you will understand pretty clearly some of what is going on.

Read “Don’t Think of an Elephant”, by George Lakoff. A good deal of why this happens and what we can do about it is in there!

George Lakoff explains all of this really well in his books, The Political Mind and Don’t Think of An Elephant.

I just finished a book that I can’t recommend enough: “Don’t Think of an Elephant: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate”. It breaks down the psychology & mental framework driving our current political climate, and the role of religion & propaganda in brainwashing the right.

don't lead with Musk's lie and associate the words "Social Security" together with "Ponzi Scheme" even if you say "that's a lie!" right after. It's like saying "Don't think of an elephant!" Same with saying "scam" near the end of the post.

begging elected democrats to stop repeating trump's lies - if you adopt his framing and language and say "Trump promised he won't cut medicare" it reinforces the lie even if you go "He's lying!" right after. Don't think of an elephant!

Literally we should not repeat it at all if we can help it. There’s a great book called “don’t think of an elephant” I really recommend
