carey pietsch is a hero for banging out all those adventure zone graphic novels. they sell so well that there's no doubt in my mind that they are what allows first second & 23rd st to acquire more niche & risky projects that aren't guaranteed sellers

So happy SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES made the list! :D I can't believe the first book I acquired comes out Tuesday, and it's been surreal to see praise come in already. Anaïs weaves an incredible story, and the team worked really hard to make every part of the book packaging reflect that.

NEVER sign a contract where the publisher keeps your rights indefinitely. For short stories, there should be a point when you can sell reprints.

and NEVER sign your movie/TV/etc adaptation rights to a publisher. Those are yours.
