Elizabeth Warren on Colbert's show: "We don't think one corporation or one man named David Ellison should be able to buy up all the shows and buy up all the sports and buy up all the news and decide who watches what and I'm gonna stay in that fight."

Will have to check that out! (CvsZ) Loved Shaun of the Dead. Especially with his friend at the end.

I forgot about that!! The underwater shark vs zombie scene? It takes my vote for one of the most amazing filming scenes ever. Liz talks about that periodically, and she is not a horror movie fan. She’ll watch some of them with me, but far from her favorites.

That’s so awesome!Closest we were, was wife was coming back from her U of M job,and she said it looked like a war zone (ok exaggeration, but looked far more desolate than normal) - I think it was the filming of Stuck Between Stations,maybe?Early2010s.And she was right, looked a lot seedier than normal.

In time for Thanksgiving! Different kind of a horror movie we are living through now.

I think it’s called β€œThe Beast”? Skiing with a yeti-type creature, and the ski resort people and the sheriff/police don’t want to lose tourist business, in a horror movie kind of way. Not a fantastic movie, but did love the yeti-eye viewpoints/camera work. (Minor spoiler if you have not seen it.)

Could go on more with SK; I will say, Pet Sematary has a special place in my mind. I was reading it around the time my cat was killed (1986) and I had a dream about a month after that happened, and she felt & eyes looked like the cat in the movie (that did not exist yet) and helped me let her go.

I do have to mention β€œThe Shining.” Goes a good job of the feel for the novel. And while on Stephen King, Carrie. Not sure if I consider the end overkill, so to speak?

Sweeney Todd. Both Johnny Depp version and earlier ones are good, but significantly different feel. Earlier one if I’m in a more serious mood.

I would think β€œRocky Horror Picture Show” has to be included, if for no other reason Horror is in the title. One of my all time favorites, even though it’s a musical, more or less. But it’s in a rather unique place.

I am drawing a blank of the Blob remake. I think I’ve seen part of it; but the original Blob is a great schlocky horror/SF movie. My impression of what I saw of the remake was well done, but did not have what made the original appealing (maybe not the correct word for it.)

I did like Night of the Living Dead better than the 1978 Dawn of the Dead; I did not see the remake of DotD but I suspect I also would like the β€˜78 version better.

Toxic Avenger. Very cheesy and definitely gore-filled; a funny thing, we have a badge, I think, signed Tox which was, I believe, actually signed by the actor. It was at my workplace when I started in 1988.

Nosferatu(the Klaus Kinski version)-not fast paced, but nicely done. The earlier(1922 version)is also slow moving,a different feel, although unlike the later version,I have felt no need to rewatch it.(I think I have the old one as a VHS somewhere,if it wasn’t wrecked by the basement water leakage.)

Very silly: Ghoulies III. I like this one more than I, II, or IV. Wife likes Ernest Borgnine (not actually him, one of the ghoulies) and also Kevin McCarthy is great as a professor.

I don’t know if β€œFearless Vampire Killers” counts; it has an early appearance by… Ronald Lacey? Guy who was the head Naz! in Indiana Jones; he’s playing the village id!ot in this, definitely a bit part.

Troll Hunter. Scandinavian film following a, surprise surprise, troll hunter. Body count is low, other than the trolls. Subtitles in the version we saw. I don’t tend to like documentary styles, I think my mind is just there right now.

For β€œHumorous” (tongue in cheek) but very dark, and staying in the serial K area, β€œMan Bites Dog.” (Original title means something similar subtext, sister in law knew the other phrase) French I think, with subtitles or dubbed. B&W, a film crew following a guy around.

That is a difficult question. Depends partly on mood. Also GF when I was in my (earlier) twenties tended to like gore, so I became desensitized.
For amazing acting, Rudger Hauer in β€œThe Hitcher.” Serial k!ller.

Good. Thank you for those that do so. Need committed progressive younger people directly involved in government.
