Not sure I understand Iran retaliating with drone strikes against California. Like, yes, it's important to US agri & econ but the administration that attacked Iran doesn't care and hates CA for being blue. They'd prob applaud the attack, post a bunch of "take that, libs" memes and blame Newsom.

Meanwhile, in Vermont…

People are getting gassed for protesting ICE. Yep, that’s still going on. America sure is great, isn’t it?

Despite appearances, these are not, in fact, the dumbest people alive. No, that title belongs to the self-absorbed fucksticks who voted for them.

If you're scared of protesting or a general strike because you could lose your job, healthcare, and housing, or even go to jail, now you understand why the US has no universal healthcare or housing and no guaranteed parental leave, but DOES have the largest prison and police system on planet Earth.

And someone who can justify committing atrocities will never be as scary as someone incapable of recognizing that they are atrocities.

Wife and I were talking about the extra unsettling quality in the way Kegsbreath talked about sinking a ship.
We're used to politicians who justify acts of war for terrible reasons. For votes. For profit. This was because it's cool and fun; an adult reliving bathtub battles in life size.

cooperation, I assume that's even why it keeps defaulting to "fill squad." The "are you cool?" tension and reward of finding a bud has, I thought, such obvious appeal in extraction shooters too.
So, just... why? Lol. Why does it seem like the virtually all Marathon players are unwaveringly hostile?

Played well over a dozen games, met at least 1 player in each. I'd always spam "friendly!" immediately, never shoot back, even switch to my knife in a "see? No gun," gesture - sometimes while dodging their shots - and only met 2 that didn't try to murder me anyway.
So much of the design incentivizes

I get that, compared to Arc Raiders, the faster pace of Marathon lends to more aggressive play but I don't get why its players are so overwhelmingly hostile.
Decided to try "don't shoot (back) no matter what" for a while last night to test how friendly players are.

The cult is also really giving the game away by constantly bringing this bill up just to say "so I don't want to hear any more about the Epstein files."

2) She's too incompetent and/or callous to write a bill without such egregious problems.

Both seem equally likely.

Nancy Mace's sexual misconduct bill would have published false and unproven accusations and, worse, the names of victims with no way for them to opt out.
This leaves two possibilities:
1) Mace intentionally wrote an unpassable bill to manufacture a narrative of being some kind of lone hero.

Well, duh.

The overwhelming majority of designers hate it on both a moral and practical level. The studios who’ve proclaimed that they’re pro-AI are finding it hard to convince staff to use these slop-tools AND the product they spit out takes more time to fix than if you’d just made it yourself.

Sure it's sucking the economy dry and a hollow justification for massive layoffs and prolonging our fossil fuel usage and offers a new way to dodge accountability and being forced on us from every angle and *doesn't actually work*, but at least it's massively enriching a handful of AWFUL people.

With season 4 of the show on the horizon, it's really about time we got an expansion for Invincible: The Hero Building Game. Game is so good - just played it last night with some friends - but I need some new scenarios and heroes.
Dangit.

An open New 3DS Xl with its rubber c-stick replaced by a black plastic, psp-sized nub. The 3DS has a Metroid 2 remake background and Pokémon Ultra Sun is currently selected.

Recent Pokémon talk got me feeling nostalgia so I broke out the ol' New 3DS, remembered how much I hate the c stick and remembered the "psp nub" mod for it. Never had a PSP but I do have a 3D printer so, a short while later, ta-da! Works SO much better.

I hate that we refer to the genre as "metroidvania" when one of the most central, identifiable aspects originated in Zelda and none of them came from Castlevania.
Secondarily, that people take this to mean I hate Castlevania; I love Castlevania, but naming the genre that way makes no God damn sense.

Who has connections at Van Ryder Games? I have an idea for a Final Girl feature film based on Arachnophobia and I wanna make it. Doing encounter design for video games counts as relevant experience, right?

A digital drawing of author Maia Kobabe, a white nonbinary person with short brown hair wearing a patterned blue shirt, who scowls while holding up a copy of eir book GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR. Maia is saying: H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban my books, and any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps and say: NO ON H.R. 7661!
