Israel has YALTAM special anti sea mine specials. Maybe they should go clear the strait if the US can't. Clean up your own mess.

Except in a French bar. Our postman stops for a glass of rose about 7h30.

I met him way back, he was NUS president, I just an SU president. Nice fellow.

We could try his tactics. You impose sanction on Russia, send tomahawks to Ukraine, we'll see if we can locate a functioning minesweeper.

There's a hauntingly beautiful irony in these morons thinking that carefully crafted American hegemony was actually weak and woke, and they would be the ones who would do Power and Dominance properly, and immediately bringing everything crashing down

For this you need mine sweepers. The UK used to have one in Bahrain I think and the US had four in the gulf. They were decommissioned a few years ago. Aircraft carriers, destroyers not much use against mines. They've completely fuck it.

Old picture of crusader knights in the 11th century slaughtering Mohammedan on a castle wall.

This war with Iran. Trump thinks its a crusade doesn't he. He thinks he's a knight. Same with Hesgeth.

Which might be why they're so suddenly obsessed with badgers. Ideal binary material.

We're not sending a carrier to assist the USA we are sending a carrier to protect our interests in the arena.

The facts suggest two interpretive frameworks for Iran: a foreign war as a mechanism to destroy democracy at home; and a foreign war as an element of personal corruption by the president of the U.S.

Plans to make refugee a status of perpetual limbo will do nothing to stop people who need help seeking it nor make it possible for them to rebuild their lives and contribute. I call for humane and effective asylum reforms because I am true Labour, not blue Labour. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

It's not right that Burnham should abandon Manchester with 2 years to go. Johnson stood in Uxbridge with only months to serve as mayor. He should wait til 27.

I get the blue Labour strategy was wrong morally/ practically, pissing progressives, Immigration EU etc. But that can't explain the very low satisfaction with Labour Starmer. This gov is doing a much better job than the last. There's something else going on. The luxury of rebellion? Bemused.

The failure of right wing policies. I agree that Labour has one hell of a job and has some good policies… but they’re loud on things they don’t really believe in (like being anti-immigration) and quiet on the stuff the country cares about (improving employment rights)…
They must tell a better story.

The idea that Muslim wifes and daughters had to be shepherded not to vote for Reform is ridiculous.

Johnson only stood in Uxbridge in the last year of his London mayoralty. Burnham can do the same in 27.

Oh, I'm old enough to have seen many a safe seat fall in a by-election only to return safe and strong at the general.

Surely the idea of coersive voting is that the patricians dictate family votes for the far right candidate.

💥🗳️ Bombshell poll in Hungary: 55–35 lead for Péter Magyar’s TISZA over Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz-KDNP – enough for a supermajority in parliament.

The survey was conducted by Medián, widely seen as the country’s most reliable pollster, for @hvghu.bsky.social.

Fieldwork: Feb 18–23, 1,000 respondents.
