Today some of our team members were in County Durham assisting with the ongoing search for Jenny Hall, now in it’s fourth day. Mobile 3 was used as a control vehicle for LDSAMRA specialist drone teams who used bespoke automated searching software.

Our volunteers train several times every month to keep skills sharp ready for call outs. And what’s more fun than playing with stretchers and hanging round a crag on a Tuesday night anyway!?

Another great training session up the Duddon valley last night. Practicing complicated extraction of a casualty from a local crag.

Thanks also to Glencoe MRT who met us for a chat and a look around their base.

This weekend team members took the opportunity to get out and train on some core skills in the snowy hills of Glencoe. It was really valuable to practice using the stretcher on steep ground and treating casualties efficiently in true winter conditions.

We look forward to sharing progress on the base build with you. Thank you all for your support and please do keep sharing our appeals, as we will need to keep fundraising to get the permanent base finished and kitted out.

As well as our routine fundraisingΒ we’ve been working towards finding money for our permanent base, so we can move out of the two unheated industrialΒ units that we currently rent. We are now at the stage where, with the offer of a bridging loan should we need it, we can start the build in 2025.

Our volunteers, along with some of our trustees and supporters, have also taken part in many fundraisingΒ activities. We need to raise around Β£50000 a year for running costs and contribution towards eventual replacement of team vehicles.

As well as our call outs we have undergone a full calendar of training including updating our knowledge of casualty care, first aid, crag rescue, vehicle training, working with helicopters, equipment, and for some team members, swift water rescue training.

And who knows, maybe next time we are zipped up to our eyeballs carrying a stretcher through a howling storm we might even recognise each other πŸ˜€

This weekend we joined an informal meet up for women in Mountain Rescue across the Lake District. Great to meet lots of impressive volunteers and to see the number of women in rescue growing.
