Thank you to @authorsabb.bsky.social heroes @beccacoffindaffer.bsky.social and Ed Underhill, we have some slides that can be shared by anyone about this, with particular reps to target. Let's kill this bill in committee.
H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban all my books, & any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps & say: NO ON H.R. 7661!
Thinking of how to use this with my students…
Proof your public library loves you: they leave you alone when you're reading, they love when you bring your kids over, and they'll literally let you borrow any book you want...even their hardcovers

The USA-Canada men’s hockey game was a nail-biter! Fitting that a toothless Hughes got the golden goal. NGL i teared up a bit when they brought out Gaudreau’s kids for the pic.
Almost as exciting as the women’s medal game!!
This is challenging and enlightening! I definitely lost most of the plot with the last two or three, though admittedly stopped trying as hard.

BTW @ #NJASL #NJLA conference this week @librarianjones.com mentioned how much she loves your books and I agree!! perfect for #middleschool ! I have a group of 5 7th graders who started their own little book circle so I rec’d Maybe He Just Likes You — they loved it!
Ok i’m a little offended yet sorta chuffed that one kid said we had the best “library clerk”— dude I have an MLIS😆
not one kid in almost 20 years has ever mentioned databases 😂
But Here are my two fave student comments to why they love the library — the kids are alright 😉
All students who visit are invited to fill out a heart and finish the statement: I love the library because…”
I also put up Literary Lovers Match Game, and the kids have fun puzzling over that
I’m a little late posting but did my annual #BlindDateWithABook for my middleschoolers on Friday. Scaled back a bit this year— prepped about half as many books, maybe 300? Checked out 235!!! Always a hoot! #schoollibraries 📚

I like the vibe of bluesky but i just don’t seem to find authors, editors, publisher marketing, book reviews/announcements, and conversations the way we used to in the early days of Twitter. Maybe I’m not working the algorithm the right way???
It doesn’t help that we’ve also lost a lot of the big in-person events like BEA (the professional one), and that there aren’t as many actual ARCs available, either.
