Iβm planning on a week of activities in lessons to solve a crime! Each yr group will do an activity in a science lesson to work out some evidence. This will be added to a central evidence board across the week. Students will then need to use the evidence to say βwhodunnitβ on Fri
25.02.2025 20:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Onto question 2!
We know there's often barriers but how do you run science week in your school?
Is it different for each key stage?
Any tips/ideas that might help others - share and comment below!

I think my main issue is that I need time to properly look at all thatβs out there and have a good play - and then see how it can fit into day to day teaching. For some of these you try it, and then never use it again as it creates more work than without!
04.02.2025 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A BIG final #ChatBiology question for tonight!
Speaking of EdTech and AI - what is everyone using? And how are you teaching yourself? π»

ve been looking at lots of different programmes to see what I can find. @magicschoolai is great - lots of useful tools. notebook LM is good to create summary revision notes and the podcast it creates are amazing! (Havenβt had the time to actually listen all the way to check)
04.02.2025 20:45 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Easy sense have brought out a new range of sensors that looked pretty cool! Didnβt specifically see any microscopy. There were some cool drones that were Β£30
04.02.2025 20:45 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There were some tech for keeping an eye on students whilst on Chromebooks and might start using class dojo again with at least y7!
04.02.2025 20:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It was interesting doing the table talk and having a discussion about the use of AI - I wished I could have got to more talks but I think I probably would have done it in a morning or afternoon rather than a whole day
04.02.2025 20:38 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I went on the Friday! It was my first time - it was very interesting just to see all the developments coming through - a big focus on AI and how it can be used to support teaching
04.02.2025 20:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Just two #ChatBiology questions tonight!
First up, did you attend the BETT Ed Tech event last weekend or have you been to others before?

Onto question 2!
What techniques do you use to support students with using all the new language?
Please share and comment with your ideas/suggestions π

01.01.2025 00:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nope not specific topics! In fact a range would be amazing as we link the articles to careers! That sounds very cool!
18.12.2024 10:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hey all you amazing #WomenInSTEM ! My students have started a science magazine for our school and for the next issue, we are looking for fabulous women in STEM to interview! Would anyone be willing to share what they do with our students??? Thanks in advance! π©βπ¬

14.11.2024 20:02 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Y9 filled in some feedback for me and they said they did some of it in y8 history but they enjoyed the topic and the gruesome bits hahaha
14.11.2024 20:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve written a SOW on the history of medicine that we are doing with y9 as one of the modules before we start GCSE - includes Arabian medics, women etc - students seem to have really enjoyed it (lots of blood and guts!!)
12.11.2024 21:15 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes!!!! Although it would be good not to rely on the tricky amylase experiment! Iβve started doing yeasty balls and catalase and it works brilliantly especially for foundation!
12.11.2024 21:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We start in Jan of y9 and teach the triple content to all students. Y9 donβt confirm options until March so after then we reset for triple where possible.
12.11.2024 21:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hereβs the list Iβve put together so far go.bsky.app/5qc9eAy
10.11.2024 19:35 β π 11 π 6 π¬ 2 π 1Languages for root of words, history for teaching history of medicine and hinterland around the science, English - links to literacy and Shakespeare!
05.11.2024 20:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ooo lots of places - always when discussing energy and energy transfers link to physics - when discussing sweating etc talk about SHC and latent heat. Lots of chemistry - esp at A level bio molecules
05.11.2024 20:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good evening and welcome to tonight's #chatbiology ππ»
First up - when do you make explicit links to the other sciences in biology lessons and how do you plan these? π
β for the best link! Don't forget to #chatbiology in your comments when you share your tips
