I volunteer at the Renate Comic Library in Berlin twice a month. It's a great place to read comics and buy zines. It's also a great place for me to sketch the people who come by.

During this hike, we mostly slept in our tents. However, my greatest discovery was the unguarded refuges. These old shepherds' huts are still looked after by some people today. They contain mattresses and a stove, and you can sleep there for free.

Another challenge is choosing the right time. When you spend your whole day in the middle of grand landscapes you wanna stop everywhere to paint. But it doesn’t feel like a good choice to stop too early when there’s another few hours of hike in front of me.
#watercolour #sketchbook
I’m not used to sketching on such a small scale and sometimes felt it was wrong to reduce those majestic landscapes to such a tiny size.
#watercolour #sketchbook
Sketching while hiking can be quite challenging. I had to choose the lightest painting materials possible because I was also carrying a tent and enough food for several days. This explains the size of my A6 #sketchbook.

I'm back from holiday and can finally scan again. Over the next few days, I will post some of the drawings I did on the train, in Lyon and in the French Alps, where I hiked for ten days.

Today's FANzine Live World Zines video takes us to the United Kingdom, where Mat Martin and Jean-Côme crafted an impressive (and impressively sized!) dystopian comic in Lemonade. Tight script, great art and perfect (?) coloring!

Another morning sketch (not from the same day, I just scanned more stuff today)
I did that one thinking of nothing, but realized halfway through that @fip.fr was playing only sea-related music while I was drawing.

Sunday at Schlachtensee
I was drawing these people & their dog, leaving space on the right for water. A swan appeared and started a staring contest with the dog. Funny how, after a long time drawing on location, things often happen to help create a more interesting picture.
