100 word drabble for the prompt: "quicksilver".

Would that Aventurine could witness for himself that gold gilt brilliance in the snap of his fingers, enduring as thunder, volatile as lightning. He smiles with silvered knives, his favourite words playing at nonsense, whip-sharp over the din of the card table.

"All in," he says, light with laughter. As if he had not just hanged, drawn, and quartered a king of rats and swindling promises.

He dodges a tumbler with a gentle tilt of his head. Waves for guards. Adjusts the face of his watch.

When all is done, Ratio pretends not to see the shaking of his hands.
