18.09.2025 01:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This article by @mattgurney.bsky.social does a good job of articulating the tension I feel over the Edmonton Police publically opposing a plea deal the crown cut for a rather gruesome crime

You mean the list of recent violence?

Parliament is about to stumble back into session. Much outrage incoming.
Meanwhile: The Line is cranking back up to a full schedule. Donβt miss it.

I have a bit of a personal window into that via my family and it's well outside my wheelhouse, but I'm consistently shocked how little this is appreciated. The number of businesses owned by people with no one to leave them to, hanging on hoping for a buyer, but likely just facing closure. Oy.
26.08.2025 16:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Summerβs almost done. (Sorry. I know. But. It's just the reality.) Kids will be back in school soon, and so will The Line. Or, well, we'll be working fullt-time again. Sigh. You know what I meant.

My daughter has gluten issues (not serious or fullblown yet) so I know what you mean.
I know this is a typical lament, but FYI, when we were in Europe for a few weeks this summer, she ate all the bread and all the pasta and ... nothing. No effect. Totally fine.

My kids now routinely eat food that my grandparents wouldn't have even heard of until they were retired, and that my parents would have found intriguingly exotic.
25.08.2025 15:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I find this topic endlessly fascinating. I use my grandparents as examples. They went, in their lifetimes, from thinking pizza was a weird, exotic food, to learning to love Indian, Japanese, Thai and Chinese. Pretty safe-for-whites dishes from each, but that was still a massive boom.
25.08.2025 15:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Honestly that does sound amazing.

"Auto execs have not expressed any widespread intent to move factories to the U.S., citing the billions in costs and years to rebuild supply lines ... The total cost to U.S. consumers in the first year of tariffs on cars and parts will be $30 billion." t.co/YgKZynqPDD
26.04.2025 00:00 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0From @ericatkins.bsky.social, @theglobeandmail.com: U.S. auto companies are begging Trump for a tariff reprieve.
"Trumpβs plan to levy import taxes on auto parts by May 3 will drive up prices for buyers, destroy supply chains and cause layoffs."
The U.S. auto sector relies on Canada and Mexico.
He should have said "bootlicker" more.
