I'm still here, in case anybody is looking. I just find that I don't really have much of anything to say on "social media". I'm opting for actually talking to people.

Retired from lots of years of IT. Now pursuing schooling in music composition. Clarinet/saxophone player, composer, Highland Games athlete (still!), sailor, backpacker, science nerd, Lutheran, married to Joan.

28.05.2025 19:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not a picture-taker. I write music. However, there's no way to post a sound file here on Bluesky. The only option is to link to YouTube or SoundCloud or Band Camp. I wish BlueSky would change that.
18.04.2025 16:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How about; every State Governor that's willing, round up all the Jan 6th criminals in their state. Throw 'em in prison and charge them with a State crime. Have actual jury trials. Give them due process. They a public defender if they need one. If found Guilty, deport them to some country in Africa.
17.04.2025 04:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm afraid that so far, with the sole exceptions being the closing of Trump University and E. Jean Carroll, that he has never suffered a consequence for anything he's done that's illegal. Ever. He got away with Jan. 6th. What is the law if it's not enforced?
15.04.2025 22:58 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 1 π 1The Federal and State judicial systems in the USA proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, during the four years between his two terms, that they are utterly incapable of enforcing anything on the guy. Convictions mean nothing without sentences. He suffered no consequences for Jan 6th. None. Zero.
15.04.2025 22:56 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Oh I have plenty of friends who told me: "Trump says he doesn't. know anything about Project 2025" back six months ago. They were annoyed at my alarm over the whole thing.
.....and they still think that the Orange Nightmare can do no wrong.
We deported this person by accident, we know he' not in a gang or a criminal but it's not our responsibility to correct our mistake and bring him back.
Because....legal mumbo jumbo.
Remember 48% of the voting public of the USA think this is just great.
Hey Bluesky, come up with a way to post sound files like MP3s. You can put a mbyte limit on it, yes? (nothing over 3 mbytes?). Pictures aren't the ONLY media on the planet.
09.04.2025 01:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So much winning.

07.04.2025 05:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think that realizing he's going to die is WAY too much self-awareness.

The Stupid is powerful with this one.
It's a bit late now, to be waking up to reality, Mitch.
03.04.2025 23:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I live here and ... me, too. This is utterly stupid.
03.04.2025 18:35 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So do something about it.
03.04.2025 18:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll be marching on Saturday. I also know that about 1/3rd of R's will claim that all 10-15-20 million people across the country who will be marching are all paid protestors.
I'm not getting paid. Just FYI.
I find that I don't have much to say here on BlueSky. That's probably a good thing, as it means that "social media" is becoming less and less important in my life. I still enjoy reading others' posts, now and then.
31.03.2025 21:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No, it's no overly defeatest. I predict that this nightmare will result in no Trump cabinet members resigning or being fired and the Trump approval rating moving no more than 1%. If he were to go on national TV and scream THEY'RE EATING THE PETS again, the needle would move right back up again.

Why not just hand Putin a signed letter outlining every detail? Did he really think Russian cyberintelligence people weren't monitoring his phone, or can't break through Signal encryption within seconds?
SIGNAL? Not secure, not government channels, set to autodelete so there would be no record of their planning, and if they used Signal to plan this, they've been using Signal all along
Unbelievable. The lot of them should resign. Now. Or Fired. Nothing else is acceptable, but of course -orange..
45% of the country absolutely loves what's going on. Remember that. #47 is a self-exacerbating symptom of the problem, but the PROBLEM is that a huge proportion of the USA thinks all this is just fantastic.
18.03.2025 03:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it eases for you, and soon...
15.03.2025 17:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I visited your Brutalist Music stream on YouTube last night. I absolutely can hear/imagine a lot of your stuff performed on acoustic, traditional instruments, live. Many of the synthetic sounds you use are reminiscent of acoustic instruments.
14.03.2025 16:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've thought for a while now that a possible contemporary use of thoroughbass would be as a basis for contemporary improvisation. Imagine a lead sheet with figures instead of chord symbols. I doubt it would gain any acceptance in jazz or popular music, but there's no reason it wouldn't work.
14.03.2025 16:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am no expert on the topic so commenting on thoroughbass as a uniting element throughout the Bach family is a bit beyond me. I mean, it was there, you find it all over the Baroque and earlier, Telemann, Corelli...so all over Europe, so there's that. It's not unique to the Bachs.
14.03.2025 16:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm a clarinet player these past 57 years, with a lot of saxophone and even some trumpet thrown in. However, since I manage a string orchestra and sometimes conduct it, it seemed to me that I ought to learn something about a string instrument. So I'm enrolled in "class violin/viola". I utterly suck.
14.03.2025 16:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, JS Bach's music is pretty different from all his son's music. CPE Bach wrote stuff quite different from his father. So, do you mean JS Bach, or do you asking my opinion about a thread continuing through two or three generations of Bachs??
14.03.2025 16:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes. I'm the manager/founder/board member/asst. conductor for a string orchestra. Sometimes one of the two principal conductor will program a piece of mine, and sometimes one of the quartets, or quintet with piano...or quintet with me on clarinet will play something on a chamber music concert.
