Seattle folks, you should not trust any local politicians who treat Jonathan Choe as a serious journalist.

08.10.2025 02:22 โ ๐ 11586 ๐ 4088 ๐ฌ 324 ๐ 145Big business has the money to carry the Harrell campaign, but they donโt have the votes, so Harrell is leaning on his โdeep roots in the community.โ With the nimbys pissed, labor waffling, and a sizable portion of the electorate from elsewhere, Harrellโs path to re-election could not be narrower.
07.10.2025 22:13 โ ๐ 40 ๐ 4 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1Read about this utter management Charlie Foxtrot by Bruce Harrell, and then try to tell me with a straight face that you are Concerned About Katie Wilsonโs Management Skills.
08.10.2025 00:05 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 4 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Bruce Harrell has failed again and again on policing in Seattle. We badly need new leadership.
07.10.2025 20:43 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I just think your ire should be directed at electeds and not blaming activists who have to work within the system and funding constraints the legislature gives us.
Initiative 1098 was one attempt at a "grand bargain" and had a lot of financial backing but it still failed 2-1.
We can't expect advocates for specific issues to bet everything (school closures, transit funding, housing, etc.) on getting tax reform passed when the legislature won't even take the small steps like a wealth tax. And Ferguson is a huge blocker too.
07.10.2025 04:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't disagree with you on the need for comprehensive reform but the barrier to that is you need a significant portion of the Dem caucus on board and they just aren't even close. They overwhelmingly voted to ban an income tax via initiative recently and won't even let cities do our own.
07.10.2025 04:46 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You donโt have to be in Seattle to donate to elect @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social !!
Her opponent has raised a ridiculous amount from outside the city between his campaign and PAC. Give today!
Contributions are limited to $650 per person, including Democracy Vouchers for the entire election.
It confuses me why you think this is an activist problem and not a legislature problem.
Every activist I know is aware of our completely broken tax system and very open to how to fix it but we can't even get the legislature to pass a wealth tax which should be table stakes for tax reform.
Itโs important to flood social media and news channels with news about how ICE lies, so that potential jurors see it.
06.10.2025 22:27 โ ๐ 13362 ๐ 5886 ๐ฌ 166 ๐ 104A PAC supporting Bruce Harrell has now raised more than $1 million from wealthy donors, and soon they will use it to attack me so that our city stays unaffordable. 06.10.2025 16:18 โ ๐ 174 ๐ 53 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 7A huge failure by Bruce Harrell. If you want to actually tackle homelessness in Seattle, vote for Katie Wilson.
06.10.2025 15:13 โ ๐ 63 ๐ 13 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This pretty explicitly is not Jenny Durkan but instead her more progressive opponent, kind of proves the point!
06.10.2025 06:59 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The thing is, Harrell is objectively a bad manager! Yes, Katie is unproven in some respects (though I have full confidence in her) but that's vastly preferable to what Harrell has shown us over 20 years in office.

A Times profile of Katie Wilson being highlighted in an email. "Katie Wilson shrugged off the idea she might be better suited for a City Council seat, instead aiming for Mayor"
This is so incredibly condescending from the Seattle Times. Do you also ask male candidates if they'd considered running for an "easier" office?
05.10.2025 16:44 โ ๐ 554 ๐ 74 ๐ฌ 18 ๐ 11The ones after him had loads of political experience. They all sucked
Ed Murrayโstate senatorโ1 term mayor went down in a sex scandal
Jenny Durkanโfederal prosecutorโ1 term mayor and didnโt seek re-election
Bruce Harrellโ16 years on city council, 4 years as mayorโhas achieved nothing
This is a *staggeringly* biased and dismissive thing for @kromandavid.bsky.social to write about Wilson, who beat Harrell by 10 points in the primary. I hadnโt heard or seen anyone suggest she should run for Council instead until this article. It seems entirely invented by Kroman.
05.10.2025 16:40 โ ๐ 95 ๐ 14 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 2A graphic in Katie Wilson for Mayor campaign colors reading "Rep. Pramila Jayapal and King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda announce endorsements of Katie Wilson."
As a coalition of billionaires, landlords, and real estate developers invest more than $1.2 million in Bruce Harrellโs re-election, local progressive leaders Pramila Jayapal and Teresa Mosqueda are announcing their endorsements of Katie Wilson.

It doesn't have to be this way! We shouldn't have to fight to keep improvements that have already been built.

02.10.2025 18:52 โ ๐ 100 ๐ 17 ๐ฌ 9 ๐ 1As far as I can tell, SDOT seemed to think this would be a fairly routine change, with the Mayor's Office caught completely off guard by the public pushback.
