Hamsters are not disposable pets.
Hamsters are not toys.
Hamsters are no different than your cats or dogs. They deserve to be treated with respect and love.
Them being small or short lived does not excuse or justify mistreatment.
progress he made.
And Iβm so happy for him, that he got to experience his passing at home. From simply just being old.
Iβm so happy he told me it was time like I asked him to.
We will miss him π₯Ή
Heβd let me get close. And at the end of 2024, he even let me start holding him. Heβd request it.
It took over a year of having him for him to trust me completely.
And it took up until early this year for him to trust anyone who wasnβt me.
I am so proud of him and the
Yes, he did display some signs of aggression. But. He was scared. He wasnβt mean.
He was absed. He didnβt trust humans. Heβd scream at me every time I tried to clean his bed.
Over time, he got more comfortable and trusted me more. He no longer screamed at me.
One day, he decided to bite her.
And he became disposable.
When I arrived to pick him up. The entire family including the parents were abrasive over him. They told me how mean and evil he was. With a final comment of βgood luck with that oneβ with an eye roll as they left.
I got frappe in summer of 2023.
It seemed like just a hamster who needed a rehome.
But it turned out he was living in a shoe box with pine bedding and sores all over his skin.
His owner (who was VERY young) would grab him against his wishes and hold him by limbs.
Goodnight Frappe.
Until we get to meet again.
(This one stings a lot more than I thought it would π₯²)
But what a privilege it is for a hamster to pass of simply just old age.
His story if you want to read it β¬οΈ

so now.
I have a terrified baby hamster and heβs going to take a LOT of work π₯²
Long story short.
I thought I was picking a baby hamster and it was going to be fine from there like normal.
But it turns out. He was living in a tiny box filled with his pee (that we were given him in hence the questioning)
Updates on Sunny.
Weβve moved him into a smaller enclosure temporarily for taming.
He doesnβt like me very much π

This has been a HORRIBLE experience.
3 months of :
-diagnosis and different meds.
-Tearing apart my entire house & deep cleaning every single day.
-deep cleaning & throwing everything away from hamster enclosures
