Actually, it might have been Maiki Sherman who asked the hard question of the PM that unleashed the deluge... and if it wasn't her my apologies and also my thanks to whoever it was that finally asked the question.

I think she's under a restraint of trade clause or whatever it's called. Due on screen in April (I think)

Nicola Willis getting a tad snarky with Jenna Lynch at today's post-Cabinet press conference. And now Tova's broken ranks and asked the PM the question that dare not speak its name-will you still be the leader? Willis seems to be heaving big sighs but she may have taken a diazepam ahead of time

As above- completely agree re: Curia reliability, but the fall-out in the Beehive is newsworthy, and TVNZ's silence on that is odd.

It's been suggested that TVNZ may have 'self-censored' in the wake of the Goldsmith/ Andrew Barclay debacle, and I think that's possibly more likely than any direct political interference, but even so, if there *has* been 'self-censoring' that's also a red flag.

Agree re: the Curia polls reliability but the bigger story relates to the subsequent fallout in the Beehive today and the decision of TVNZ not to report on that. It's a strange silence and one that begs the question, why not? Other outlets have reported on the political fallout. So why not TVNZ?🤷‍♀️

100% agree re: Curia poll reliability but there's significant fallout in the Beehive today (ie will Luxon be rolled?) and that's newsworthy. So given that other media outlets are covering it, has there been political interference in TVNZ's decision not to report it? It's just plain weird.

Is TVNZ seriously not going to cover the latest poll tonight? We had to tune into TV3 news. Political interference, perhaps?🤷

So... will there be a challenge to the Labour Party leadership or not? With all these damn redundancies, most of my sources have left the building, and the stalwarts of the Wellington rumour mill are as confused as a bunch of headless chooks. They may as well be speaking Klingon.

It was a huge honour to speak with Avery on this podcast a while back. I’m looking forward to listening to this final episode. A huge loss to see the Unsettling Extremism podcast and He Whenua Taurikura close. Mauri ora @averysmith.bsky.social @joannakidman.bsky.social

As He Whenua Taurikura closes its doors, this final episode distils years of research into a narrative about what extremism really threatens: not just physical safety, but the fundamental human need to belong and our ideas of peace. open.spotify.com/episode/3umc...

Over-hearing Avis rental car staff at Christchurch airport yesterday charging a price-gouging $4000 for one car for one week to an overseas tourist. Attempting to get us to sign a rental car agreement without providing the actual agreement. Cowboys!

Cadence is a hugely talented young poet. A really extraordinary new voice.

Ray Chung on the other hand... well, family right?

Can't live with 'em ... can't push them down the stairs.

Which mandate matters most? | E-Tangata “Māori institutions can’t rely on formal mandates alone. If we want legitimacy that endures, we need to design institutions that reflect our own power dynamics.” — Sacha McMeeking.
