Clinical significance of toxin EIA positivity in patients with suspected Clostridioides difficile infection: systematic review and meta-analysis | Journal of Clinical Microbiology Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is a common cause of healthcare-associated infections and the leading cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. However, the laboratory diagnosis of CDI, primar...

💯 agree Krishna. So many reasons for false positives in HCT patients especially in this cohort of HCT patients.

Also for fungus, local/national epi likely differs by site/country.

#ASHKudos to Rachel Rau, Sumit Gupta, the whole AALL1731 study committee, all of our COG sites, and most importantly, our patients and families who made these results possible. So exciting to officially see these results on the big stage at #ASH24 (and presented by a great mentor too!)

I never tire of seeing these progressively improved pediatric ALL survival curves, which represent one of the most remarkable achievements in all of medicine.

Amazing to see even more improvement with bispecific antibody #immunotherapy presented in the #ASH24 Plenary session. #hematology #leukemia

Facts.

One reason this is particularly true is kids can’t vote and the people who are supposed to vote on their behalf, don’t.

Bactericidal antibiotic treatment induces damaging inflammation via TLR9 sensing of bacterial DNA - Nature Communications The immunologic differences induced by bactericidal versus bacteriostatic antibiotics remain unclear. Gross et al. show that, in contrast to static antibiotics, cidal antibiotics may drive harmfu...

Bactericidal antibiotics release DNA that activates TLR9, while static antibiotics do not, and this excessive inflammation can blunt efficacy.

Fascinating study!

#IDSky, is there a good study that shows development of a MDR organism for a patient results in worse outcome?

Obviously would need to control for a lot of confounders but wondering if someone has attempted and somewhat succeeded.

Interesting, I was hoping they would have gut microbiome as a sample type as there’s been some literature suggesting it has a role in efficacy of immunotherapy/CART
