".. this is the realities of war, & those who target civilians, in particular the Iranian regime, that kind of action is appalling"
Govt minister Sarah Sackman on the bombing of the school in Minab, which more & more people are now admitting was done by the US
That Starmer keeps Mahmood in post shows this is not just the actions of an inhumane Home Secretary, but a deeper rooted ideology of hostility and xenophobia within this government. No-one benefits from blocking Chevening scholars. This is cruelty for sake of it.

The Home Office is hiring staff from McDonalds and supermarkets to decide on refugee deportation cases. Staff know so little that some consult Lonely Planet guides to decide if a country is safe. Some can’t even find countries they’re returning people to on the map
Inside the UK’s asylum system
Pretty serious allegation here. "Witnesses told the BBC that the Israeli soldiers had arrived disguised in Lebanese military fatigues and used ambulances with signs of Hezbollah's Islamic Health Organization."

Hitting desalination plants is so bad. Not just evil but strategically incomprehensible. Without desalination 75% of the entire population of the Middle East will be refugees. Israel and Kuwait depend on desalination for 90% of their water and other Middle East states aren’t far behind.
From Tehran: "It’s catastrophic. The smoke has entered our homes, the flames are still rising and it feels like the sun is shining… The flames are so bright the highways look like it’s day time. So bright but doesn’t feel right... Help please!”
US +Israel now in full blown war against Iran's civilian population.
"Expect a deliberately created humanitarian catastrophe with food, water & energy shortages, hospitals destroyed...massive internal & external displacement"
Also expect Iran to retaliate likewise on Gulf

Just fascinating to see Blair, a man whose reputation was ruined by the Iraq war, advocate joining a war that is exponentially stupider and more chaotic. How is it possible to learn nothing from the worst mistake of your life?
Multiple news outlets are reporting a US attack on an Iranian #desalination plant.
If verified, this violates international law protecting #water systems during wars, and it sets a dangerous precedent, given intense dependence of Gulf countries on desalination.

North Tehran’s Aqdasiyeh oil depot is ablaze tonight after it was targeted by multiple US-Israeli airstrikes. Apocalyptic scenes filmed by Iranians driving on the nearby highway. Local reporters saying firefighters can’t put it out. This depot is critical energy infrastructure for Iran.
It doesn’t matter whether the rate of global warming is increasing. It’ll never cease to amaze me that people don’t care that it’s happening at all. It should be the most alarming thing ever.

if the US doesn't want its military assets attacked maybe they should stop starting wars & fuck off back to their own borders
The war on Iran likely brings a new oil price shock and windfall profits.
So, who stands to win?
Our research shows: Last time around (2022), the US reaped the largest fossil fuel profits of any country ($377bn). 50% went to the top 1%, only 1% to the bottom 50%. A🧵
Impressive timing by Shabana Mahmood for today to be the day she announces her asylum policy 'inspired by Kristi Noem'.
Important to seek clarity today on whether Home Office and No 10 will try to defend - or will now withdraw - a false+misleading claim applying settlement reforms to 2022-24 cohort saves £10bn
Not just overspinning lifetime saving in 30 years time
Gvt policy doesn't save maybe £8-10 billion of it!
Now the Bekaa valley. The IDF is ordering the forced evacuation of three towns in the Bekaa, east Lebanon
We now have all of south Lebanon, all of Dahieh and parts of the Bekaa

Middle East crisis live: Israeli military tells hundreds of thousands to flee Beirut
'Claude' is a war criminal.
We went from making up reasons like "weapons of mass destruction" to you know what, fuck it we don't need to even lie, the president "had a feeling" that they pose a threat so we just bomb them so we can. A country doing this can't expect peace inside.
Israeli “evacuation orders” have displaced 105 different villages in southern Lebanon. The illegal orders also extend north of the Litani River. Over 30,000 people are newly displaced in the country.
#BREAKING | Israeli and U.S. warplanes are carpet bombing the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.
They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.
The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.
If you know your British including British colonial history, you might be a bit appalled.
I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing ‘reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.
Hugely necessary: a large scale mapping project, 'The Reactionary International" collecting research on the rise of the illicit far right reactionary.international
Anthropic refused to support the Department of War - but OpenAI stepped in to fill the gap.
And once again, the United States is bombing the Middle East.
