As proposed, the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity legislation currently pending before Congress would create a national system of permitless carry, which would undermine numerous state laws and law enforcement, enshrine irresponsible gun carrying as the standard, and cost lives.

You're picking up "unspecified" with x95 which is the overwhelming majority of cases. If you only look at "long gun" x94 it becomes tiny. Based on FBI and GVA data, I guarantee the vast majority of unspecified are handguns.
Yes, though it can impact open carry (which would include long guns). Further, unless there was something really bizarre in the underlying data, long gun homicides shouldn't change, meaning the % change in handgun homicides would be even higher than shown (but not much given low long gun %).
Here, table on left are the raw numbers, numbers on right calculate it as percent increase/decrease (with Year 0 becoming a baseline "1" value). 1. My analysis looks just at Permitless Carry states vs the national average during the same time periods. For states moving to right-to-carry, I'd recommend Dr. Donohue's work.
2. Looks at overall gun homicides, which are overwhelmingly handguns, though the CDC data doesn't get that granular.
Using CDC data, we found that states that pass Permitless Carry see their gun homicide rates increase by 27% in the 3 years after passage, more than doubling the 10% average national increase over the same time period.
Weakening gun laws costs lives.
