28.10.2025 04:10 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0my partner uses this currently for a similar setup, her pc is on wifi and she uses this for her quest pro, so it should work well
these are a little bit dependent on environment so i would grab it and give it a shot, and if it doesn't work well just send it back :3
it just runs like a local router directly between your pc and the headset, and repeats any connection already on your computer to the headset as well
so you basically get a direct communication to your pc while piggybacking off of your existing wifi network for internet features on the headset
fyi, the current open beta sdk for vrc will break most avatar projects using physbone-related tools, including gesture manager due to a change in the sdk itself
hopefully its fixed soon, but avoid it right now
oh shit i should also mention im not talking about the content creation half of the original post, its absolutely not viable for that, dont switch if youre making content and dont want to spend hours learning new tools!!!!!!
21.10.2025 23:27 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0lastly, if (and at this point likely when) valve releases a desktop / living room console to pair with the steam deck, there will hopefully be a huge shift in freedom with gaming 🙏
21.10.2025 23:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0it also should be noted the only reason AAA games dont run on linux is because of kernel-level anticheat, even though most KAC vendors these days literally support proton / wine and developers choose to turn it off, not because of lack of linux support or proton etc.
21.10.2025 23:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0call me crazy but im actually of the opinion right now that linux is *only* useful as a desktop os if youre doing development (web or xplat) or gaming
proton has come really far, but if youre a AAA andy, youre still outta luck
been writing a lot of rust for fun lately, i still like it but its really challenging to learn
19.10.2025 21:24 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0my options were have the text be unreadably small, or scale the ui to an awful 2x and have it take up most of my screen, which negates the point of having a hidpi monitor in the first place
mostly because the unity ui uses gtk3 and for some reason they decided to make gtk only scale with integers
yeah i mean i use it 100% at work, however not being able to use unity properly, when it's 90% of what i do at home, makes it unusable for me right now as my main OS
16.10.2025 13:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0honestly i dont know why i bothered, this is the exact same conclusion i came to before, i fucking love linux but it unironically fucking sucks as a desktop operating system because people wont support it because maintainers cant agree on anything
15.10.2025 23:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0i spent 5 hours trying to figure this out today and my final solution? go back to fucking windows
15.10.2025 23:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0the unity developers have not added scaling to macos or linux for their editor, so its impossible to use on hidpi screens, its honestly so fucking comical
on top of this linux maintainers just fight constantly over handling window scaling
no wonder people think this os is a joke
also i got a $35 keyboard for work and its better than all of my other keyboards so ive got the same one for home now
14.10.2025 12:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0windows has finally decided to full screen block input and force me to update to the next feature update so ive swapped to endeavour again this week, we will be trying our best to make things work this time because i truely cannot be fucked to use that shithole operating system anymore

09.09.2025 03:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0spectre 2.1.0 is put, its now on sveltekit 5 and tailwind 4, now that ive updated the frontend, its time to rebuild the backend
i want to make the app work a bit more offline, and lower the overall amount of requests it makes, though vrc's api makes effeciency a bit tricky
ironically 2025 i was supposed to release a ton of stuff, but circumstances havent been great and my health hasnt been the best either
