I really wish I had had the wherewithal to do that kind of thing when I was younger! It’s one of those weird things that I noticed but didn’t have the courage to articulate it in the moment. Nowadays I do a really sarcastic “oh I’ll do that since dad / my brother / whomever isn’t capable of it :)”

LRP don’t even get me started on how from an early age I “knew” to start asking if ppl needed help making food during get togethers, that children needed to be minded if adults were busy, but never in my life have adult or teen male members of my family contributed to either front.

But consistently - CONSISTENTLY - when it would finally get to the day, everyone had presents except for me, who did all the organizing, and my mother, who’d organized gift giving every holiday our entire lives before that. Didn’t matter who our “Santa’s” were.

So I decided to start doing a secret Santa thing! It was like pulling teeth to organize. All I needed people to do was give me an email address and tell me what their budget was. But this was impossible for some of them to do for some reason.
