KOSA is never about protecting kids. It’s anti-queer and about making sure kids don’t have access to information they need to survive - from health basics to knowing they are not alone and not broken. And it will destroy the internet as we know it.

Conversely, Hollywood has often thought that it's star power that appeals to fans, that an effects spectacle is for a movie ABOUT effects spectacle - not that it is just part & parcel with the genre, so it's not as prioritized except by certain directors.

As a result, they understand that these things are EXPECTED by the audience. And since they NEED to be there, they find ways of making them as visually stunning as they can to keep up with an audience ever-hungry for it while also finding cheaper ways of doing it.

...aren't fans, but it's in the same way that people just aren't fans of certain genres period. Explosions and martial arts and super-lasers and monsters are not something seen as ludicrous and to be scoffed at - they're just aspects of a genre, sometimes appealing to kids and sometimes not.

...you still REALLY need all the other aspects of a good film to work or else it's just boring.

Japanese Tokusatsu has never had this problem. Godzilla, kamen rider, super sentai, metal heroes, Ultraman, etc. are not something that filmmakers are embarrassed by. Sure, there are people who...

...understood that those same qualities are what made these characters and concepts appeal to audiences to begin with and thus knew that while some adaptational changes would be necessary, they didn't need to be afraid of colorful costumes and melodrama. It didn't always work and sometimes...

...movies were EMBARASSED to be superhero movies. They HATED superheroes - hates the tropes of them, the imaginative ideas and sci-fi concepts and melodrama. So they tried to be like "We're not like that comic book crap, we're SERIOUS and BETTER and KEWLER than them."
