best part of having a drow PC in a campaign is when u spend an extended amount of time in the underdark and ur DM is constantly going "ah fuck, goddamnit, ur crazy ass darkvision again... [reveals WAY more minimap]"

i think working on those really detailed digital paintings of cenryx and sebylen last year rewired my brain a little bit. something about the idea of "draw this character like you are in love with them" changed the way i draw my character art in general and i can't fully explain how or what changed.

might actually be getting through my artistic dry spell. working on some art right now that im so happy about that i am like vibrating into the next dimension.

can also happen with character names too. as a teenager i named a character nighteye then a few years later my hero academia had a character named the same thing. good thing my character nighteye was a fancharacter i never used for any original work or i would've been REAL pissed lol

used my new CPAP machine while sleeping for the first time last night. i slept for 14 hours and woke up feeling the most rested and happiest i have felt since uhhh... my teen years? it's pretty fucking awesome. to my friends, this is ur sign to do ur sleep study if you've been putting it off.

at least now i have a medically measurable reason for my constant overwhelming fatigue, and a relatively direct solution for it. so, here's hoping i get hooked up with a CPAP/APAP machine and i can actually get some real rest soon.

had a sleep study done last night and talked to the doctor about it today. and she told me that according to my results, my breathing would stop an average of 70 times PER HOUR. so yeah. i guess that explains why i have no energy to draw or write lately.

thought i was suffering from the classic "art block" but it turns out i actually have extremely severe sleep apnea. shockingly, your breathing stopping multiple times per minute while ur asleep makes you extremely tired all the time! 😱

realized recently that the art block ive been struggling with lately is just due to my own damn perfectionism. embarrassing. thought i'd be over that by now but i guess not. time to spend the next few months drawing intentionally shitty doodles to unkink my stupid brain.

like i watched one of these videos with her last month and she just couldn't stop ragging on the poor woman in the video for using a nail gun to construct things instead of using a drill and screws. like yass queen fuckin getem for those shoddy construction standards. leave no survivors

lately my moms been starting to watch timelapse videos of ppl doing big home/yard renovations on youtube and if anyone is in the room w her she loves just heckling the FUCK out of the person doing the renos and it is legitimately hilarious. thanks mom

writing brain: im going to put SO much work into fleshing out these characters and the world they live in and how they interact with each other and that world and--

drawing brain: ooh. i like these little guys youve made. im going to dress them up like neat little paper dolls forever and ever now.

sometimes it feels like i use all my brain power on creative projects to come up with cool characters and detailed worldbuilding and lots of interesting character dynamics, but then on a day-to-day basis the thing i most end up wanting to draw are my characters in cool outfits. over and over. 😔

for me one of the things that helped me reduce the huge load was discovering that my body absolutely HATES showers that are too hot. when i started taking more lukewarm showers, the physical load of them reduced massively.

caitlin doughty of ask a mortician fame has a truly unique ability to manufacture perfect vocal stims on the power of nothing except good delivery and a catchy jingle. every time i watch a video of hers i always end up repeating something from it over and over for like 2 hours afterward 😂

i love getting compliments on parts of an art piece that i fucking hated working on. like "thank u for the compliment on the background of this piece, it almost drove me to the brink of a madness so total that i might not have been able to return from it. yeah, drawing all those bricks sucked ass."
