Madwoman in the Attic was one of those texts that completely changed my understanding of literature. RIP Gilbert of Gilbert and Gubar. www.theguardian.com/books/2024/n...

My first (97/98?) was bought in Woolworths and had a very flimsy antenna that I had to carefully pull up to make a call.

An English Teachers’ Bibli-blography This page is very much under construction at the moment. In fact, it's likely that you will be able to say that about this page for some time, if not indefinitely. It's designed to be a collation of b...

Meanwhile, this is likely the most useful thing I collated and pulled together. It was entirely the result of the collaboration of teachers and I reckon would still be very helpful for English teachers.

I really like this idea from @MrRobHistory on Twitter. I’m going to try it with some of my students in English for the literature texts. Great to see how one idea can be utilised across different subjects. Thanks, Derrick! @teamenglish1.bsky.social

Edexcel 2.0 combines language AND structure in the question and I think this is a much more sensible approach.

Hello edu-Bluesky! πŸ‘‹
For those of you thinking about what’s coming up this week, here’s a thread I wrote last year about GCSE results data…

This is an overview of what I do when I get my data in… πŸ‘‡

Teach the poetry (I always favoured Rossetti) at the same time. Don't be afraid to let lessons unravel into brilliant discussions. Make sure the students are really certain of the AOs needed for each exam component. Honestly, it's the best part of the job - enjoy it!
