Out of Context #pathfinder2e Game Night Quotes:
Summon: "If we stab them in the skull the joy juice will drain out and we can drink to fill our bellies and our hearts."
House Cat: "Never summon that one again."
Sorry i meant they totally should. Not that they will or are.
#starfinder2e has weapons that are instruments and a Caster trait.
So they totally at some point make castonets that are weapons with the Caster trait.
Ya gotta do your diligence and see how the pieces interlock and then earnestly compare to similar results.
Like how Daredevil Daring Stunt doing shortsword strike levels of damage (though can't do crit strike damage) while also including a move and using a roll that scales faster than strike prof.
Cutting Insult > Psi Strikes > Strike? Damaging debuff that also amps the strike damage. Strike plus +1d6 plus 4d6 with bleed (basic save) and a Frighten.
That's like, even better than if you tacked the rider of Vicious Swing onto Intimidating Strike.
So like... buildcraft is underrated in PF2e.
Then the Psi Strikes also links up to other things much like my past rants about Bespell Strikes
+1d6 is like a slightly weaker pre-10th Vicious Swing so kinda anything that trips it also sorta pays a 1 action cost to make strikes Vicious Swing
Three actions to do these are better than Stride > VS
And the Cast > Strike thing? Also not entirely a waste.
I took Psi Strikes. Casting anything, including Ghostly Carrier gives my weapon/unarmed of choice +1d6 damage.
And I have Spirit Warrior archetype so sometimes my 1 action to strike is 2 strikes.
Combo
So, while not a broken OP thing, the fact I get so much out of a r2 slot from a spell arguably mostly useless to most casters is a good example of looking past face value and looking at what it actually does with your build
It's not just a 2a "give touch spells range" it's setup to a deadly blade
Naturally it's 2 actions, takes a little more set-up and Spiritual Armament is Sanctified.
But you can also Amp Imaginary weapon for even more damage and 2 targets. Which strictly RAW don't need to be near you or each other.
Well, even just baseline Imaginary Weapon eventually way outscales Spiritual Armament without taking anything but the R2 slot for Ghostly Carrier and because it's a fresh cast it applies Unleash Psyche when Spiritual Weapon doesn't. It also doesn't drop off if you don't use it.
My Tangible Dream Psychic?
Well, I can just pre-buff it or turn 1 it then strike.
Every turn after I have Imaginary Weapon at decent range.
That still seems rough though? Didn't Imaginary Weapon get nerfed?
Ghostly Carrier is actually fairly useless on nearly every caster as it's a whole R2 slot and 2 actions for a benefit most casters can totally ignore. The vast majority of spells aren't specifically touch range.
Given the chance you can pre-buff it occasionally mind you.
... while things are more self-contained than in 1e it still can be greatly interaction based. It's just less obvious and lean more towards interactions in play rather than on the sheet.
Since I'm playing my Psychic later today lets pull an example from my sheet.
As the system is built more strongly towards optimizing through breadth of tools than stacking numbers up with your build, it can be pretty beneficial to look at things in #pathfinder2e by what they do in your build than the option's solo power.
In other words...
Hm. The base concept of being coral people reminds me of one of the Battlezoo ancestries, the chochori.
Or you could do a gimmick where for some reason Danhausen cursing Finn has different effect and summons the Demon
I dunno. I just think the team could let both of them show and develop more of their talents.
Bad booking of the Demon left it like "Is this not a dangerous alter ego? Is this no threat? What's the gimmick of this exactly?"
The Demon teaming with Danhausen as the scary straight man of the comedy duo could give it more clarity and purpose.
And Finn has (in a polite way) stated that he doesn't use the Demon face paint anymore because despite his attempts at creative input on it the Demon got booked into a confused and meaningless mess.
Giving it new life as a slightly different gimmick might save it and be fun.
BTW I named the stronger of the two "Orchid" and the second "Antirr" as a reference to my kashrishi investigator being named after a desert flower.
Antirr being part of another name for snapdragons, because the party lizardfolk is going to ride that one.
My small, gem-horned, archaeologist rhino person that archetyped witchwarper downed a witchwarg alpha and convinced the survivors of the pack to follow him as the new alpha with a stiff headbutt and promises of more hunts rather than death.
So now my PC is even more odd.

Reminds me of years ago i saw a really deluxe fur suit that used those special stilts that simulate backwards legs for some practical effects werewolves.
Dunno where they got them sadly as i didn't have a window to talk to them.
Seriously. We'll seperate the art from the artist when the art is separated from the artist tyvm.
Though even if somehow she lost all ownership or profit shares there's always the ability for her to put out a book and go "From the Creator of Harry Potter" and still benefit.
... and could start opening up more to fully new stuff....
Well I am hyped for the SF2e to be able to settle into a more comfortable pace and also hit that same place.
SF2e without looming need to port things is a thrilling thought.
The opening of that post makes me realize how content dense the first year of SF2e is. The crew must have been super busy trying to get a healthy amount ported over swiftly but well.
Thinking back to that feeling a while back when PF2e had nearly everything ported over finally...
It's ironic one of Dean Cain's best acting performances was playing a legally distinct version of Vandal Savage in Smallville who was a Nazi collaborator.
I wanna make a punny comment using "resin" in place of "reason" but i have been up since 2am.
Someone do that for me, plz k thx.
Give that guy a chance to play with acting range.
One complaint about Finn is he's like Daniel Bryan was with tons of in ring talent but the out of ring character stuff could use tuning.
Daniel Bryan got way better at that part after being tagged with Kane in a credible but silly tag team. So It might work for Finn.
... Finn around paintless and serious while also acting like he's a totally different person from the Demon and was unaware they teamed up.
Or something.
