Yours truly embracing the last days of summer at our family swimming hole on the Azul River in Futaleufú, Chilean Patagonia.

My shirt says, “Cedar Creek Apothecary, Cedarburg, WI”

You can take the boy out of Wisconsin, but you can’t take the Wisconsin out of the boy.

The Packers haven’t had a top 10 draft pick in 15 years. The Bears are loaded with them—which tells you a lot. CHI should have a nice window of 2 years until they have to pay folks. Then we will see if the organization is ready for sustained excellence. Their current success is good for the rivalry!

I have friends & family who are Bears fans. I have always admired their loyalty. I am happy for your nice season. It’s deserved. Caleb will be a worthy adversary for many years. I think Ben Johnson is an excellent coach but seems to be a jerk. I have doubts about his type working out long term.

In addition to Cedar Creek and ubiquitous Packers, Brewers, and Bucks gear, I also have been known to rep Dave’s Guitar Shop in Walker’s Point, The Viroqua Co-op, and Glorioso’s on Brady 😀😀

The whole reason writers like to get up early is that you have the house to yourself, a pot of delicious coffee in the kitchen, and you can write freely with nobody distracting or judging you.

Ushuaia, El Calafate, El Chaltén, Torres del Paine are the obvious stops.

If you want to add a few days central Chilean Patagonia is lovely: Cerro Castillo, Marble Caves, Rio Baker, Patagonia National Park

In our region you have Futaleufú, Queulat National Park, & Pumalin NP.

I am sorry I can’t recommend any specific operators who will book your entire trip, but I can make some recommendations of what you don’t want to miss. How many days/ weeks are you thinking?

Our alpha llama is white and produces a lot of white offspring. The llama wool is soft but less so than the alpaca wool. Ironically, they clean themselves off by rolling in the dirt. When it’s hot they sometimes take a dip in the pond.

When you travel around the region you realize how unique each country is & how their politics & histories differ. A year ago I would have told you most right wing leaders in Latin America were wary of DT and saw him as unserious—but they loved the Maduro capture & sadly might be inching towards him

I think Kast & Trump are very different people. I suspect Kast, after a brief honeymoon of a few months, will be under attack not only from the center and left but also from the libertarian right. I do believe the pendulum will shift back. I am not as worried for Chile as I am for the US.

Which is why one should avoid regional slang when they travel!

The next 4 years will be tough, but I don’t see this as permanent. The Civil Unrest of 2019 radicalized the Chilean center. That center became a pendulum that swings back and forth. When Piñera was president the pendulum swung left. When Boric was pres it swung right. Now it will swing left again.

Good morning friends. Here is today’s lesson in regional Spanish dialects: “Chocho” is a Chilean word meaning “beaming with pride” as in “Eldfara is chocha about her baby sister.”

Both baby foals are still unnamed. Coming soon!

Good morning bluesky friends. This week could get funky. Stay focused. Stay positive. Here is the view of the Azul River in Futaleufú, Chilean Patagonia, yesterday late afternoon before sunset.
