The foundation of Fascism was laid long ago in this country. The laws that allowed for internment camps are still on the books. Extensive systemic reform is necessary; a recurring issue usually has an underlying systemic cause.

Also, as for why we exist, the 50501 Movement is decentralized and grassroots. That means our individual groups don't take orders from any authority. Nice job trying to uphold Top Down Authoritarian systems though!

We're planning protests for other days. This was a decision made months ago by our team, a representative from the splinter group, and Black organizers on Albany.

We're planning protests for other days. This was a decision made months ago by our team, a representative from the splinter group, and Black organizers on Albany.

Even with the growing push for mobilization in response to LA, we will NOT protest on June 14th.

The city has planned parades that day, and if we mobilize during them, it will put people in danger.

50501 Albany remains committed to NONVIOLENCE.

We stand in solidarity with LA as the city resists the violence of ICE and the deployment of NG.

Although we are a peaceful protest movement, we understand the pain of a community unjustly targeted by ICE and we demand an end to mass deportation.

And in order for us to listen, there needs to be a space for those voices to be heard. Albany 50501 is committed to providing that space for our community, even if that makes us targets of abuse, harassment, and defamation. We will not be kept from the good work.

People of marginalized groups are the most affected by current policies BUT that doesn't mean life was peachy for us before Trump. We will still suffer and die at the same rates with a reset. We need to find ways to empathize with the experiences of those we don't like; that starts with listening.

We also wish it were as simple as stopping Trump. However, this is not another MAGA movement. There is no better time period to reset to. We as a society are going to need to uplift each other, esp. the ones who make us uncomfortable, if we are going to have anything decent at the end of all this.

In past months, we've had our events steamrolled by certain members of Indivisible Albany, who have forced us to exclude Leftist individuals and organizations. They also harassed, emotionally abused, and violated the privacy of our BIPOC organizer by phishing for their medical info and phone number.

Many of those in power in the Democratic party work to uphold the status quo.

That's why 50501 is a nonpartisan movement, and why we do not associate with events that exclude speakers of volunteers based on political affiliation.

The SEIU-USWW President was just arrested at an anti-ICE demonstration after ICE kidnappings in LA.
