Creating small kinetic sculptures in steel you don't realize the need for non-existent tools to simplify the process. SO this morning it was time to design. My two multi-directional clamps worked perfectly.
I now shoot instinctive, and wont go back. Start at 6 feet - ya I know it sounds stupid. Once you're getting them in a tight cluster - move back 4 feet and do all over again. You will develop amazing results. Breath, draw, release - never look at the arrow - only the target. Across my basement.
Are you aiming or instinctive?
SO WHY HAVE YOU MOVED INTO KINETIC SCULPTURE?
Each is a captivating, piece of art that moves blending art and mechanical engineering. Unlike static sculptures, kinetics is interactive with its environment by air movement, motors, or the touch of the hand.
Having created the base years ago, this piece sat on a shelf all that time. Then one day it yelled at me - it changed again.

This steel stabile is unique in that it rotates on a pin point around a column trapped with in a ring. The open face catching the wind for movement is papyrus.

Filling my truck one day, I noticed the wind making the power lines hum and sway. It was the perfect demonstration of how the wind's energy affects more than just large surfaces to create movement on kinetic sculptures.

Enjoy your passion for music with a unique steel wall sculpture by Arbie Kepler.
The abstract wall piece "Clef" will look great in any type of home, whether it's modern, classic, or even a company.

More often than not much time is spent solving problems before moving on to the next task. Thank goodness for earth magnets, levels and tape.

Well the end of 2025 has me going in a different direction with my sculptures. "Kinetic Elements In Motion." I will be posting a few that are now available at galleries. I know its early, but I've began creating pieces for ARTNOW and TIGER LILY shows in Saskatoon this year.

Steel Rose Boutonniere
At one time I created four inch, 25 - 28 petal steel roses based on the long stem Mister Lincoln.
This one-of-one, scaled down boutonniere has 27 petals, heat coloured and clear coated.
Collection of the artist.
Self-gifting one piece of art each Christmas is a fantastic way to celebrate a personal accomplishment.
HERE'S A THOUGHT...
With Christmas around the corner, its justified you begin holiday shopping for yourself first.

Hi again. Just wanted to let you know what I'm doing now with my attempt a kinetic sculpting. Definitely a learning experience, but fun.

Thats about right.
😀
I just wanted to share a sculpture I created in steel titled QUBD (2022 - 2023) in homage to Johannes Keplers (1571 - 1630) special right triangle.
QUBD is Keplers Triangle in three dimensions whose cubic areas also follow in same geometric progression based on the Golden Ratio.

Some times there are cutoff pieces of steel you don't even think about. They usually are destined back to the recycle depot. This piece happened to land on the ground one day; and then I saw it - "Foot Hills".

Stunning piece.
