The Pushkin heist: who is stealing rare editions of Russian classics? Nearly 200 volumes have gone missing from libraries across Europe. Some suspect it is another “special operation”

5/ The Economist: It's published in all editions of Pushkin’s collected works, and “Pushkin himself thought it was hugely important,” Bojanowska told me. And yet it is rarely included in curriculums, even in the West. “It’s kind of like this dirty little secret” www.economist.com/1843/2025/08...

1/ The Economist published intersting longread. Between 2022 and 2023, nearly 200 unique books by #RussianClassics disappeared from European libraries. Similar thefts were recorded in LV, LT, EE, PL and FR. Some of the stolen books ended up at auctions held by the Moscow auction house. Why?
