Today, we joined a multi level stakeholder meeting on 'Pesticide Poisoning Prevention and Policy Reform'. The meeting was organized by Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA) in partnership with CEJAD and Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention(CPSP)

When feeding the nation risks health Behind the food on our plates are farming communities bearing the heaviest burden of this exposure. Many farm workers reported not using any personal protective equipment at all.

Do we really know where our food is grown, under what conditions, and at what cost to farmers and public health?

As a member of the NGO coalition @toxicsfree.bsky.social, we joined the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution #ISP-CWP to advocate for an independent, transparent, and conflict-free panel that truly responds to communities vulnerable to toxic pollution

The first ever plenary of the ISP-CWP - a new science-policy body dedicated to chemical, waste & pollution issues - is underway.

Our research in Tanzania identified paraquat & profenofos as pesticides of concern.

💡 With CEJAD & CPSP support, the Tanzania Plant Health & Pesticides Authority convened an expert group to assess and propose policy recommendations. Result: paraquat withdrawn nationwide ✅ #EvidenceBasedPolicy!

Ozone protection efforts have contributed significantly to slowing climate change by avoiding an estimated 135 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent emissions from 1990 to 2010.

Our study found that 98% of farmers/farm workers either used pesticides directly or worked on farms where pesticides were applied, demonstrating an overwhelming reliance on chemical pest control by both men and women #toxictrade
