Some of the best shows I have ever seen were Joe Ely at the Broken Spoke in Austin in the mid-80’s. Will never forget them.
St Vincent #26? Better than Jerry Garcia, George Harrison, Buddy Guy, just to name a few? I was a longtime reader of RS but they have been a joke for several years.
And we're officially at the end of being able to trust the jobs numbers in this country ever again.
Nope
This is so disheartening, Matt. Never thought I would see a day in this country when so much progress is being undone. Very sad.
It is going to take years to recover from this process and can only hope that the short and long term repercussions are not too severe. A methodical approach would have made too much sense.
Such an underrated record. I played the hell out of it when it came out. Wish those two had done more together.

Let’s hope for a new album in 2025!
Friday evening vibe
Feels like this kind of week.
Agree - only thing I miss from twitter is Houston sports accounts. Hope it will continue to grow.
This is from a 2020 presentation. Now it's just the chaos we live in, and no such description is needed.
Saw him last night in Houston with Wild Pink. Awesome show!
Saw him in Austin and Houston several times over the years. So good. Miss him.
She said, “May I ask you to have mercy Mr. President on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away." If Mike Johnson thinks that’s “radical,” perhaps he has a fundamental misunderstanding of his own religion.
These people are always being victimized by someone.
Stevie Ray's entire 1983 Austin City Limits appearance is on YouTube. 1983 was a huge year for Stevie. It's the year that his first LP, Texas Flood, appeared. I've got this queued up to play "Tin Pan Alley," but the whole concert is worth watching. youtu.be/Lsh2mjzHPWY?...
Been listening to Josephine for the last few days. Forgot how good an album it is.

Great album! Thanks for the recommendation - needs to be more widely known!
Because others do it often irresponsibly, let me try to do it responsibly. Let's rampantly speculate on the Euro from 12z today. Here's what it shows over Texas on January 8th. 1/

You think you can hide but you're never alone
Ask Lot what he thought when his wife turned to stone
Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind
Lord, take away this trouble in mind

Van Morrison - Sweet Thing
We shall walk and talk in gardens all misty wet
All misty wet with rain down
And I will never, never, never grow so old again

Dumb. Ass.
Roughly 50 years ago, a complete performance by Willie at the Austin Opry House, which he owned. It's so great to see Mickey Raphael in this video and know that, 50 years later, he's still playing at Willie's side. That says something (good) about both of them, IMO.
