Right? I mean if GRRM approached Sanderson and asked him to take on the story, the way that Robert Jordan did while on his death bed, then sure. But just because we want it as a fan, doesn't mean we are owed it.

But taking that statement at face value... if your policies make people weak (and they are--strong people can only withstand so much) they a vast majority are doomed to fail. Through no inherent weakness.

Find the angry and desperate people, give them a convenient target with plausible (to the uneducated) reasoning, and you have yourself a mob.

And the target has to be both specific in description and transgress, while being vague enough it's hard to disprove.

I fully believe many of these people will be the last to be so fully affected that they change their mind.

Their cars are 10 years old or more, they are largely DIY, they don't care about avocados, so they get hit last.

So immediate tariff price changes won't affect them at all.

if we went to a more European style system, then the "winning" party often needs to create coalitions with other parties with power-sharing and agenda compromises. We sort of have that right now already, except the coalitions are entrenched as the two parties in the two-party system.

couldn't have said all this better myself. Different people have different spoons for this kind of thing.

I've always been concerned about one administration ruining treaties and agreements from past administrations. But it always seemed inconsequential until lately. Now it will be decades of consistency from the US for any foreign entity to trust we will keep our word when given.
