Ofqual must be bolder on on-screen exams The proposal to limit digital exams to only two subjects per exam board is unduly restrictive

Ofqual's consultation, Regulating on-screen assessment, closes today. Our CEO, Colin Hughes, said in @schoolsweek.bsky.social that the regulator should be bolder:

"We should be focusing on building public confidence by doing, not delaying."

Earlier this week, our AQA Maths Lead Nicola Woodford-Smith welcomed Multi-Academy Trust teachers from across the country to attend a workshop on the future of the subject. Our thanks to everyone who provided such valuable insights!

It was our first Student Advisory Group meeting of 2026 yesterday, and we welcomed new members, a new Student Chair, a new Trustee Chair, and a new Executive Sponsor. On the agenda were digital exams, Citizenship, and the new National Youth Strategy with special guests UK Youth and Girlguiding.

The Government's white paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving, quite rightly sets out an ambitious plan for young people in coming years, said AQA CEO Colin Hughes.
