The waterfall in the River Nent at Nenthead is a significant geological feature, formed by exposures of the Great Limestone. It is particularly notable for its lead- and zinc-rich metasomatic replacement flat mineralization.

A wonderful day with the learned friends of the North East Geological Society in the ore fields of Weardale discovering all about mineralisation. Leading the expedition was Dr. Brian Young, a rock star in the truest sense. And of course, Burt the Hedgehog was a big hit with his cheerful snozness.

I'm currently holidaying in the Highlands of Scotland and I came across this rock formation whilst sightseeing. The rocks looked like they may be spicy, showing patterns of mica/quartz and haemetite staining on granite. So I whipped out the radiacode and found patches of radioactivity up to 0.30 ΞΌS.
