Numerous articles written by historians before 2020 about the Spanish flu in different parts of the world highlight all these issues, as I noticed while reading some of these publications in recent days!

Regarding a critical review of the COVID-19 pandemic: Why didn't historians appear on TV from day one to outline the developments, measures, challenges, and pitfalls of the 1918 Spanish flu? We could have avoided so many debates and missteps in fighting Corona...

Nirgendwo sonst sagt man „wir befristen Euch & werfen Euch dann raus, weil bei uns prekär arbeiten so toll ist, dass es auch anderen möglich sein soll“. Zeigt grenzenlose Arroganz des dt. Wissenschaftssystems, die ihm angesichts von Machtmissbrauch & Fachkräftemangel mit Wucht auf die Füße fällt.

Wissenschaft jetzt, Leben später Wenn ich an das Leben ohne Wissenschaft denke, das mir bevorsteht, dann spüre ich nun, mit fast 40, kaum noch Frust oder Trauer, sondern die Vorahnung einer tiefen Erleichterung.

Das Ende meiner Zeit in der Wissenschaft ist absehbar: Ich bin nach wie vor befristet, ohne Entfristungs-Perspektive. Was das mit mir macht? Trauer & Frust sind inzwischen was anderem gewichen: Erleichterung. Denn ich hab es satt, dieses Leben unter Vorbehalt. Heute in #ArbeitInDerWiss! #IchBinHanna

I've been working on Spanish contemporary history for years, but so far I've not found a way to get a teaching job on this topic. Spain is the number one holiday destination for Germans, but it plays virtually no role in the teaching of history at German universities. #SpanishHistory
