Also Hammersley and Pettit in the 1960s. + some published administrative documents. Searching "forest law" in the Bibliography of British and Irish history locates several that are published in pretty obscure records series. E.g. Forest of Dean in 1634, New F docs 1565-1624, Pitstone in 1612,

Fun topic! But I'd doubt they were printed frequently enough to provide an up-to-date index of the state of the law. J Manwood on forest law is published in 1598/1615, but by that date was decades old. I'd start w 2ndary material like Pluymers ch. 1, Sara Morrison, ED Robson, maybe S Sandall.

I don't think Trump uses the word "nice" except as a threat, to describe the temporary and revokable absence of violence. In 2017 he said to police and ICE officers "don't be too nice" when arresting immigrants, whose heads should be smashed into cars.

Students need to understand that AI generated answers vacillate wildly from being suspiciously wrong to suspiciously accurate, from one clause to the next. They sound like a confident expert and then three words later like an uninformed rookie, in ways real students never do.

It's sad that Shaquille O'Neal earned a doctorate by paying for his friends to register for online grad school in order to make his classes big enough to count, because now he could just pay his friends to learn how to write his prompts for him. #multipertransibuntetaugebiturscientia

Good idea, put your face on thing that people can permanently deface and then put back into circulation.

High oil prices *are* good if and when they are part of a strategy to reduce climate change and improves lives by making cities more livable and public transportation more efficient.

My overwhelming impression in October was that St. Paul's landlords were strongly against the incumbent Carter and for the challenger Her, and that this was a key factor in her victory. I'm sure Frey sees landlords and developers as indispensable supporters.

Would you compare this to a streamed tv series? In that it matters whether we understand them as 50 episodes of 60 minutes each, or as one 50 hour movie.

This looks really interesting, and anyone who agrees might also like the excellent Segregated Species: Pests, Knowledge, and Boundaries in South Africa, 1910–1948 by @julesskotnesbrown.bsky.social.

Holy cow, Ukraine offered to help the US prepare to counter Iranian drones, but the Trump regime turned them down, too focused on pushing the narrative that Ukraine “has no cards” and should surrender to Russia.

But now the US is back, asking for help after attacking Iran and getting fire back.

Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"

I genuinely think this might be the single stupidest statement in the history of the American presidency. The idea that you'd ask an enemy during wartime not to defend themself, and threaten the destruction you've already promised, and also undermine the premise of your own request.

Got it: Individual choice, the foundation of liberalism, is bad because it promotes atomization. What's far more important is "society," meaning "your nation." I wonder if there is a name for the politics of elevating national cohesion over individual rights?

When ICE came to St. Paul members of the city council felt it profoundly. They came to Molly Coleman’s child’s daycare more than once, triggering parent patrols. My daughter reported that the ICE presence outside her school during recess last week involved ICE officers sitting IN AN ICE CREAM TRUCK. And this wasn't kids misinterpreting. We had an email from the school the day it happened; we just didn't get the ice cream detail in the email.

When I grow up I'll have ice cream all day long and let my kids have all the candy they want and stay up all night and I won't ever say no to anything especially ice cream or candy or hydrocarbons or economic stuff or video games or ice cream.

"Do you have such fear of the American people that you regularly endanger your own life?" would be a good question to ask a nominee for a cabinet post.
