Read my accessible analysis of Goodwin v UK – why it still matters, and what the courts are getting wrong – here:
BREAKING: it appears that the MHRA, in control of the UK puberty blocker trial, appointed a senior officer who had previously mocked supporters of trans rights online.
Recusal is not enough here. He and those responsible for appointing him should resign.
How can trans people trust them now?
Leave her alone you fucking ghouls. She did nothing wrong.

Weird how they don't have to "clarify" what transgender woman means when they are talking about someone they can't use a slur against
For the record, I was an advisor to Ed Miliband's Labour Party on tax policy, I strongly support a wealth tax, and I am aware of a viable and fully costed proposal to implement one in the UK.
The BBC is really showing its arse with its editorial guidelines recommending the use of a pseudoscientific dogwhistle in reporting that mentions trans people.
It's important that they're not allowed to continue using fake-scientific insults in peace.

transitioning is the best choice i’ve ever made in my life and the only regret i have with it is that i didn’t do it when i was younger
Kishwer Falkner's term as Chair of the EHRC, a term characterized by her willingness to use that vital guardian of the human rights of the vulnerable to wage war on trans people, ends today. THREAD
Was this issue raised in court? Thinking the Croft is dead line was particularly egregious.
I’ve seen commentary along the lines of “the judge must have said it, otherwise they’d have been held in contempt”.
1/🧵 Day 2 of 2. Today at 10:30am, High Court in London, Court 1, before Mr Justice Swift, R (Good Law Project, on the application of) v Equality and Human Rights Commission, a rolled-up hearing for judicial review of EHRC’s “interim update”.
No live reporting, sorry.

Our challenge to the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s interim guidance has begun in the High Court.

Telling a trans person to “go and touch grass” when your party is trying its damnedest to make it impossible for us to go for a pee when we leave the house is certainly a choice.
It’s also your job to protect other constituents who are like Brianna. Using language like “deranged” is not it.
Missed this the first time round going through Cass. It's gibberish; "A known side-effect that *may* reduce psychological functioning..." If it was "known" then saying it "may" is a self-contradiction. It also includes a reference from only 4 months 12 days before Cass was published...

Falkner writing a pissy letter to the minister going “its been six months and trannies are still legal what gives“ is quite funny tho
She’s so incredibly aloof here…
“I’m very sorry”, no hun you’re *clearly* not. 😂
Surprised she didn’t mention arseholes, considering her expertise.
Quite a bodying, here, for the UK, from the Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe.
🏮 He points out the Supreme Court ignored human rights (which breaches its legal obligations)
🏮 He says, in effect agreeing with Lucy Powell, Parliament should be involved...

1/🧵 Is there any information on whether Ciara Watkin plans to appeal the bristling miscarriage of justice that effectively criminalises the sex lives of all trans people in England?
Recorder Peter Makepeace KC‘s misogynistic remarks shocks me.
Is she *seriously* quoting “deeds not words”, and in the same breath calling direct action extremism? 😂
Holy shit transphobes are incredibly dumb.
And assuming the BBC's quotes from the judge are accurate, he believes a trans woman who has sex with a straight man is by definition a rapist, as he does not believe it possible for straight men to be attracted to trans women without being deceived (which is rape now, but only for trans people).
Oh do fuck off Wes Streeting.
It's not designed to intimidate women, it's designed to protest transphobia.
If I protest against racist scum, that's not me 'intimidating men', it's disagreeing with racism.
I am sick to fucking death him pretending that transphobe and woman are synonyms.
This is an amazing defence of trans people against one of the country’s worst transphobic bigots by @zackpolanski.bsky.social
Definitely but that also brings its own issues wrt isolation. Not to mention there’s some truly evil bastards working in the prison service.
This whole scenario is horrifying. 😔
I've tracked death by suicide of Trans youth in the UK since 2017. Leia's is the 25 death of Trans youth age 18 & under.
- Feb 2017 to November 2020 9 deaths.
Following Bell v Tavi (Dec 2020) & removal of access to healthcare
- December 2020 to June 2024 16 deaths.
Our Government is culpable.
Very much this.
Suffragettes: arson & letter bombs. That’s feminism and women fighting for their rights.
Trans people/allies: smashing windows. That’s wanton violence and misogyny.
If it wasn’t for the fact that they’re extremely dangerous to our rights, I could not take transphobes seriously.
