A very lazy Sunday with Myrtl. I think she knows I’m leaving soon and she wants to spend as much time as possible with me today.
We spent a whole day tracking lions and when we found them, we decided to stick around so we could record their calls. Somehow we picked the laziest ones around, because they slept a lot, yawned and stretched but did not make one sound until nightfall. When they finally did roar, it was magnificent
Unbelievable colours of the Namib desert at sundown.
And so begins my solo expedition to Namibia.
Just published three new albums recorded in the Amazon rainforest on my website. wildambience.com/albums/
Here's a sample from 'Cuyabeno Dawn' - put some headphones on and enjoy the sound of the rainforest awakening!

A well-camouflaged Indian scops owl waiting for nightfall in Satpura Tiger Reserve - India, 2024.
A very intense soundscape #fieldrecording - thunder and loud insects in the jungle: youtu.be/vY9dPdZ5Vec
Stijn Demeulenaere after a particularly grueling day in the field - Sumatra, 2023. That expedition was one of the most challenging we've been on, but the sounds we captured in those rainforests are worth all the effort, sweat, insect bites, disease etc.
New recording from sound artist and field recordist Gina Lo ✨
"Gentle waves break and flow into the gaps between the stones.
Listen to the air bubbles and limestone breathing, the marbled rock crab chirping, and the occasional pigeon flapping its wings and hooting."
First #fieldrecording from my recent trip to Japan - the flying barn door:

Sounds like it was pretty intense! Hope it was worth the tickbites.
Looking great Marc, hope you managed to record some good soundscapes.
Absolutely well deserved Oscars Best Sound win for Dune: Part Two! I’m very proud to have recorded the beautiful sounds of the Sahara for this legendary picture 🔥 #fieldrecording #filmsound #sounddesign
A few minimalist landscapes from Hokkaido.
If someone ever asks you what the best bird is, you can confidently answer: Steller’s sea eagle. That is all.
Well deserved BAFTA sound win for Dune Part Two! The film does sound as stunning as it looks, if I can say so myself.
#fieldrecording the sounds of winter in Japan’s wild North. The snow makes everything sound nice and pleasant.
A superb playlist of Jungle soundscapes just went live! 🍃
With a reflection of the definition of jungle, its use and range of meanings. Thank you to all the sound artists who helped us by sharing their thoughts and experiences and to all the recordists.
Quick stop in Tokyo before I head into Japan’s wild North.
Part 1 of a long, but delightful conversation with Mel from @earth-fm.bsky.social is out today. It started in typical interview format, but when two like-minded ADHD folks sit down to talk, all bets are off. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
