Honestly to fuck up the headset lug with the head tube and bearings inside it, the impact would have to be so severe the frame would be fucked anyway.

I think the bigger issue would be pitting the race from impacts. Again, wtf are you doing to cause that damage but technically you can ride on it.

If you don't care about originality, Velo Orange is a good source for Italian threaded (or French threaded, actually) bottom brackets.
