I always observed it as like: teto synthV happens > synthV becomes popular in the jp sphere because of it > mesmerizer > mesmerizer makes people wanna use teto synthV riding off the songs popularity > mesmerizer breaches containment outside of the vsynth community > profit

Both the idea of teto as a character finally going commercial, putting synthv on the map in jp spaces and then the insane popularity of mesmerizer drawing more people back into vocaloid + to teto. It’s definitely both but I’d say mesmerizer did a ton of heavy lifting

honestly shes not even that overdesigned, una has always been intentionally cluttered/asymmetrical bc shes a kid and its what a kid would think is cool. its not like a gacha game design where its just slapping trinkets everywhere for the sake of appeal. rip una you would have loved justice clothing
