Tonight’s act of defiance and claiming my own power: submitting job applications. This particular position has run its course.

John Waters personally told me not to put up with assholes and to arrange my life so I didn’t need to deal with them and I follow that principle religiously.

Having something in common is also pretty important, but I can at least be friendly without needing that.

I have three requirements for a friend:

Don’t be an asshole.

Don’t be a bigot.

Don’t be an utter fool.

Lately I’ve wondered if my standards are a bit high because people have trouble reaching them.

We have zero morale at my workplace, coworkers screwing each other over constantly and a manager we haven’t seen in three months, but at least I just got confirmation from my team lead that they won’t fire me no matter what I do (because there are no repercussions here).

Anyway, having the Voice of Reason siding with the Palestinians on every issue was /not/ something I expected out of this show.

Pushing back and trying to get them to genocide harder. There were problems with it, but for something made 20 years ago by and for old fashioned Democrats it did an okay job (I’ve only seen the first two episodes on the topic so I assume that’s it, apologies if it shifts later).

For a show that is so terrible on how it handles the Middle East in general, West Wing did surprisingly all right with their episodes on Palestine and Israel. It still wasn’t to my taste but you had the Voice of Reason character supporting the Palestinians and the conservative old Dems

Star Trek Discovery is okay, actually.

I’m gonna be real here, I didn’t like some of the additions with Claudia. I felt like the whole Bruce thing was pointless and terrible.

Everything about this is monstrous.

The main change I was concerned about was Claudia’s age. OG Claudia had a lot of unintentional trans femme coding and changing her age might affect some of that. But I trust the people telling this story now; so far we’ve been in good hands and no matter what they do with her it will be good.

We started the Interview With A Vampire show last night and I am absolutely floored by how good it is. I grew up on the books, I loved the movie, and I was concerned about some of the changes I’d heard about but they’re actually brilliant and it’s an excellent retelling so far.

The show itself wasn’t particularly deep and the writing was REALLY bad when it came to things like science, tech, history, magic, you know, anything of substance. But it was a pleasant and very queer diversion.

But I don’t think I’ve seen as much trans joy on the screen in a while. Nia Nal is allowed to be herself and being trans is part of her but not all of her and she gets to be happy, something denied to trans characters all the time. It was nice to see.

The show was pretty spectacle and a lot of feel good. It reflected a lot of the dialogue about civil rights that were going on at the time and had some Very Special Episodes about transphobia, anti-Blackness, and other related subjects.

We finished out watch of the CW Supergirl show last night, which I liked to call “Gay Alien Wrestling”. We watched it because it was on a list of lesbian fantasy and sci fi. Supergirl’s sister is gay and one of her teammates in later seasons is trans.

I honestly don’t know what to post here. I made this account under my legal name for mundane things but I don’t feel like posting about mundane stuff on social media right now so much. I have my author account to where I’m super active but even there I’m posting on specific subjects.

I finished the first season of Yellowjackets on Netflix and am actually considering paying for Showtime briefly to watch the rest of it. I was told that it had big maenad vibes and it did not disappoint. It was really enjoyable though.

Mostly I feel like a dumbass for listening to people who were wrong instead of paying attention to my eyes, ears, brain, and heart and this is how I’m dealing with it.
