My family used to own an RX 400H that we nicknamed Lexi. She had over 200k miles on her and drove like an absolute dream. Only problem is that New England winters are hell, and she had a rusted out hole in her subframe that basically disqualified her from doing anything but in-town drives.

Ultimately they're two different takes on a GT-centered modpack, but I find myself preferring TFG over GTNH, mostly for its groundedness and intuitiveness (is that a word?)

I also like that GTNH had Thaumcraft, and I like its integration into the progression, although i do find myself wishing they branched. I would've loved to just have specced into being a mage instead of an engineer that moonlights as a mage when i need to make a brewing stand lol.

Also, the fact that TFG is on 1.20 (with all of the QOL that brings) instead of GTNH's 1.12 is so much better to deal with. The only thing that I think GTNH does better is having early/mid game dimensions. Twilight Forest and Nether are fun to expore. The nether is also actually dangerous in GTNH.

The two aren't exactly comparable - TFG has a longer early game owing to TFC's complexity - but TFG's was absolutely more fun to play through than GTNH's IMO.

GTNH doesn't really have that, at least for the early game. The overall gameplay loop of GT is centered around improving production methods and chains to be more time and resource efficient, but the GTNH early game is such a grind, even moreso than TFG.

Going from TerraFirmaGreg to GTNH has been... an experience.

Part of the appeal of TFG for me is that things made sense, and you could intuit what you needed to do based on real life (fire started from sticks, charcoal made in a covered pit, glass blown from viable sand mixed with additives).

Its neat, but not good for my use case. Plus taking backups manages this problem quite well.
