Here is the first consensus-based core outcome set for airway management research, with agreed definitions and measurement instruments.

This will harmonise evidence synthesis and improve the translatability of findings to improve clinical care.

Bougie or stylet: what to use when the chips are down?

Is it truly possible to consistently and deliberately shape a bougie to fit a hyperangulated blade?

If you have time to read one paper this week, make sure it's this one. High-yield content matched with excellent narrative style.

Their conclusions, much like their dosing recommendations, seem to be a bit generous.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

Excerpt from editorial in Anesthesia & Analgesia asserting that, in the cited case, adherence to the recommendations in the PUMA guidelines for preventing unrecognised oesophageal intubation led to a patient death.

Concerning misrepresentation of the impact of guidelines for preventing unrecognised oesoph intubation by @elboghdadly.bsky.social & @iarsjournals.bsky.social's own editor-in-chief Jaideep Pandit.

PUMA guidance was NOT followed & WOULD have avoided this situ

Having always allowed parental presence during resuscitation in the #PedsICU, I can see the benefit, assigning a PICU attending to be with the parent is a key part. Definitely not for every family, but an option to be present could go a long way.

So this is the new great idea🤔

I’m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldn’t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community

Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs?

Agreed. I found this recent RCT published in JAMA Open scary though:

The key findings of adjuncts for HAVL

-STYLETS BEST
-STATIC BOUGIES WORST (by a distance)
-dynamic bougies closer to stylet than bougie

This contrasts to recent studies so is notable.
