Its so hard to understand the scope and scale of the Federal attack on Chicago, led by ICE and CBP.

I put this map and table together, highlighting the most significant incidents from 9/19-10/25. The area shown is roughly 30 by 35 miles with incidents in all corners.

Officially done with my time at Burnt City Brewing and the District Brew Yards.

Bitter but on to the next thing I guess.

Given the world, who the fuck knows what "the next thing" is gonna be.

A timeline I have put together to document key monents in the attack on Chicago:

6/16/2025 : Limited but heavily militarized and anonymized ICE activity
9/19/2025 : Broadview Escalation: 9/22/2025: Broadview: More chemical irritant use:
9/23/2025: Silverio Villegas González Murdered
9/26/2025: Broadview Scrum 1: Vehicular Violence and indiscriminate chemical irritants
9/30/2025: South Shore Raid
10/3/2025: Logan Square Tear Gassed
10/3/2025: Broadview Scrum 2: ISP+ crowd control; Deliberate attack on protesters by ICE while filming for content, Dan Bovino
10/3/2025: Arrested Alderman
10/4/2025: Brighton Park Stand Off
10/10/2025: WGN Producer Aggressively Arrested under suspicious reasons, no charge
10/12/2025: Albany Park Standoff

The Federal government has attacked Chicago but Chicagoans are doing a great job documenting what is happening. However, I do not feel that there is a solid timeline of key events forming, and so I put one together

Here is a 🧵with details on each, including sourcing and videos. AMA

Oh, also, still not investing anything in Bluesky and still just squatting.

As far as I'm concerned, Bluesky is like that episode of South Park where they burn down Walmart and go to TruValue and then they burn that down too because the wrong lesson was learned.

A movie poster for Punishment Park (1971).

A cop aims a gun at the head of person on their knees with their head down in a desolate hilly desert.

"At another time, the honorable thing, or the right thing to do, might be to be a policeman or to be president. Right now, I think, the honorable thing to do, is to be a criminal."

People thinking that political violence is bad but cheering on state violence when the state has the largest monopoly on political violence.

I am begging people go find the movie Punishment Park (1971) and realize that the US has been on this road for a long time because we never yanked the wheel hard enough.

Just saying, Mastodon and the Fediverse are right there. And not subject to the whims of VCs.

Coming up on my 10 year anniversary at my job.

I'll be honest, I'm less ecstatic than I thought I'd be.

Instead, I simply am increasingly isolated and growing more firm and concrete in my disdain of all things. ✌️

Burd's Top 10 of 2024 While I probably watched fewer releases this year than in recent memory, what I did see, I really loved. Alas, I didn't get around to nearly as many one as I was looking forward to before years end.

Not my most intense year of movie watching due to stress, depression & a shit load of Space Station 14. Still I give you my Top Ten PLUS my lists of every first time watch I Loved and Liked in 2024 AND my 31 Nights List.

Popping back up for a second as I am in the middle of my yearly Burd's #31NightsOfHorror and about to embark once again to the Music Box for their 24 Hour Horror Marathon.

Thought to post my #Letterboxd list for this year for anyone who might be interested.

Film list: Films I'd Love To Screen At The Music Box Theatre If Given A Chance Or If I Regularly Had $1000+ To Rent It Out Put me in coach.

Perhaps a wishful thinking sort of Letterboxd list but the happiest place on Earth I could be is watching any or all of these films in the comforting dark of the @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social

Film list: The Horror Duology I am a strong believer in the one-two punch that is the Horror Duology. Sure, they are almost always born from a money grabbing sequel (or, nowadays, requel) scheme but a duology often allows a story…

Still not convinced I have much to add over here but I'm going to continue to rely heavily on Letterboxd as a crutch to put myself out there.

So, enjoy one of my favorite lists dedicated to appreciating The Horror Duology. A concept I strongly defend. Love a great horror film combo.

The list of films I watch this week from Letterboxd.

Heathers
Gunslinger
The Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras
Night of the Demons
Vegas in Space
The Man from Planet X
The Big Lebowski
Clownhouse
Destroy All Neighbors
The Blackening
Woodchipper Massacre

So yesterday, I fell off my brew deck, broke my glasses, busted my face.

I'm pretty tired still and would normally do a more fun write up of my Letterboxd Last Four Watched this week. Instead, just gonna post my actual full week. It was a pretty good one (right up until yesterday😮‍💨)
