Laura, I spent a semester in DC in fall 1990 and did volunteer work outside the clinic as you describe. We took a bus across DC in the predawn darkness to get there.
I did a blood test that showed no immunity for measles. I’m sure I got vaccinated in the 70s. Clearly it wasn’t enough so I got MMR vaccine the same I learned of my lack of immunity. Easy.
Our current weather is HOT and very DRY. The early morning thunder and lightening brought little moisture. Multiple fires 🔥 caused by lightning ⚡️. The rough terrain will be challenging for firefighters. This park is such a special place.
