Free message for Democrats on taxes: We will use them to improve people's lives instead of killing people for no reason.

As this points out... sportsbooks are already loss leaders in Vegas. Sportsbooks are draws to get people in the door (or back in the day, to get people into Vegas period).

The gambling apps don't have doors!

In an earnings report last year, Flutter (the parent to Fanduel) listed "unfavorable results" from Fanduel as a reason for missing targets.

What they meant was that they lost too much money to bettors due to things like same-game-parlays.

THESE COMPANIES ARE BAD AT MAKING MONEY FROM GAMBLERS.

It's crazy how different the legalization of weed and betting were handled at the state level. For one, hard and fast regulations were included in the laws passed. For the other, zero fucking guardrails.

It's still insane that we haven't seen statewide bans on advertising sports gambling!

Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple - CTLGroup Unity Temple was constructed in 1908-1909 and is a National Historic Landmark. CTLGroup’s role in the restoration of Unity Temple was comprised of a comprehensive survey and evaluation of the concrete...

www.ctlgroup.com/project/fran...

The 2017 renovation was done by Chicago area (then Skokie; now Chicago) engineering firm CTLGroup. Their primary specialty is cementitious materials, so they were an appropriate choice.

Curious if their project files had any information on this.

Shifting from newstand to the direct and bookstore markets changed the way Big 2 comics are written in more significant ways than we give it credit for.

And I don't mean in a positive way.

There was an entire era of X-Force where they made the Vanisher the Warren Ellis-esque "bastard" on the team- complete with shitty tattoos!- and it sucks so fucking much.

$11.3 billion could cover any of the following for a full year:
-1.4 million people on Medicaid
-19 million kids getting free school lunches
-1.4 million people getting affordable housing
-1.1 million hungry seniors fed
-0.8 million children given free child care

Someone generate a grant for studying how rich you'd be if you just did the opposite of what Jim Cramer tells you to do.

“Social murder” is a term created by Friedrich Engels to describe the premature death of marginalized people due to political, social, or economic oppression.

What is happening right now in America is the premeditated, calculated, & planned extermination of children who are trans. This is genocide.

They could spend the remaining money on a force field around Byron Buxton so he could play a full season!

(jk he'd still get hurt)

There are pieces of writing that stand on their own without any external information, but there's a reason when we read poetry, for example, we want to know when it was written and by whom? Where was it written? What were the circumstances of their life at time? And their country or city?

My take for years was that nothing Founders made did not have a better alternative next to it on the shelves. Eddy Fitz, Two Hearted, Expedition, etc. And that was before a boom in local grocery beers.

Breakfast Stout was the big exception for me and I do crave it occasionally.

Fwiw, I kind of feel relief when one of them shoots themselves in the dick because it means one less brewery to browse on the shelf.

Yeah, Founders is a Never Buy situation for me.

Boulevard thing sticks out because it sounded very systematic, not just a couple people. But the response from management was good. So personally more willing to buy but I always have reservations.

An all-timer.

Sucks about the culture they apparently promoted for years (perhaps they really changed tbf)

Some time in the '90s the GOP realized that both "read!" and "vote!" were partisan Democratic positions masquerading as general civic engagement, and that was the end of that

I've been planning the burgers we ate for literally 10 days.
