How I was taught in the very twilight of anyone caring is that "reverend" is an adjective. You can't say "We met Reverend John Smith", you have to say "We met the Reverend John Smith. And you certainly can't say "he was a reverend". He was a pastor, and his name was the Reverend John Smith.

But the obvious answer to that is that Starmer fans are now very vociferously criticising Corbyn for writing in the Telegraph but don't when Starmer does it. So either everyone's a sickening hypocrite or nobody is.
